The Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors is pleased to announce an official resolution recognizing January as National Radon Action Month
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in the United States, responsible for thousands of preventable deaths each year. Because radon is colorless, odorless, and tasteless, testing is the only way to determine whether elevated levels are present in homes, schools, and workplaces.
Through this resolution, CRCPD reaffirms its longstanding commitment to protecting public health by supporting radon awareness, testing, mitigation, and education efforts nationwide. CRCPD encourages everyone to take action to protect their health by testing for radon during the month of January and throughout the year.
CRCPD applauds the ongoing efforts of radiation control programs, public health agencies, and advocacy organizations working to reduce radon-related health risks. Together, we can increase awareness, advance prevention strategies, and save lives.

Thank you for your continued partnership in advancing radiation protection and public health.
