The Radon Resources section of the RadonLeaders.org website has been updated, and the complete slide deck and recording from the webinar “Strategies for Supporting the Adoption of Radon-Reducing Building Codes” are now available.

These resources are available in the Radon Resources Library and the RRNC Code Adoption Toolkit, providing practical information and examples to support states, tribes, and local partners working to advance radon-resistant building codes.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the webinar, and for your patience while this section of the website was being rebuilt. We also appreciate the partnership with the Indoor Environments Association (IEA) and the EPA in making these educational events possible.

The CRCPD E-25 Committee on Radon is continuing to develop additional training opportunities. If there are topics you would like to see covered in future webinars, we welcome your suggestions.

The Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) is pleased to share the publication of Recommendations from the Blue Ribbon Panel on Fluoroscopy Safety, a comprehensive consensus paper focused on improving and standardizing radiation safety practices for the use of fluoroscopy in health care.

CRCPD contributed to the development of these recommendations as part of the Blue Ribbon Panel on Fluoroscopy Safety, convened by the American College of Radiology (ACR) beginning in October 2023. Over more than two years, the effort expanded to include over 30 organizations representing a broad range of fluoroscopy stakeholders. The final paper was reviewed and approved by the CRCPD Board of Directors.

We thank ACR for their leadership on this initiative and for making the publication publicly available.

The Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors is pleased to announce an official resolution recognizing January as National Radon Action Month

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in the United States, responsible for thousands of preventable deaths each year. Because radon is colorless, odorless, and tasteless, testing is the only way to determine whether elevated levels are present in homes, schools, and workplaces.

Through this resolution, CRCPD reaffirms its longstanding commitment to protecting public health by supporting radon awareness, testing, mitigation, and education efforts nationwide. CRCPD encourages everyone to take action to protect their health by testing for radon during the month of January and throughout the year.

CRCPD applauds the ongoing efforts of radiation control programs, public health agencies, and advocacy organizations working to reduce radon-related health risks. Together, we can increase awareness, advance prevention strategies, and save lives.

To learn more about radon and steps you can take to reduce exposure, visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s radon information resources, Radon Leaders Savings Lives website, or contact your state radon program.

Thank you for your continued partnership in advancing radiation protection and public health.
