Workers deserve more than delay tactics after they win a union election.

The Faster Labor Contracts Act (H.R. 5408) has passed the House and now heads to the Senate. It helps ensure workers can move from a union victory to a first contract without employers dragging negotiations out for months or years.

In Kentucky, House members voted against the bill:

Jamie Comer (CD-1)
Brett Guthrie (CD-2)
Thomas Massie (CD-4)
Hal Rogers (CD-5)
Andy Barr (CD-6)

Rep. Morgan McGarvey stood with working people and voted YES.

Workers fought for their union. They shouldn't have to fight endless delays to get a first contract.

The bipartisan Faster Labor Contracts Act (H.R. 5408) would help prevent employers from dragging out negotiations and stalling workers' progress.

The House has acted. Now it's the Senate's turn.

Tell your Senator to pass the Faster Labor Contracts Act and help workers secure a fair first contract.

☀️ Summer is here! And so are long weekends, family cookouts, ballgames, road trips, time at the lake, and moments with the people we love.

As we enjoy the season, let's honor the generations of working people who organized for better wages, reasonable hours, weekends, and time away from work—helping make more of these moments possible.

Here's to a safe, joyful summer for Kentucky's working families. And here's to continuing the work of building a future where everyone has the time, security, and opportunity to enjoy life's simple pleasures with the people they care about most.

On This Day in Labor History, June 3, 1900, the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU) was founded. The IGLU helped shape the modern labor movement through the courage and determination of working women.

At a time when garment workers faced dangerous conditions, low wages, and little protection on the job, immigrant women organized some of the largest strikes in American history. Their activism helped build one of the nation's most influential unions and fueled reforms that followed tragedies like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.

But the ILGWU's story is about more than workplace gains. It's a story of workers building collective power, fighting for safer jobs, demanding a voice in decisions that affected their lives, and expanding the labor movement to include new generations of workers from diverse racial, ethnic, and immigrant communities.

Through organizing, education, healthcare programs, housing initiatives, and cultural projects, the ILGWU demonstrated that unions can improve workers' lives both on and off the job.

Their legacy is a reminder that the rights working people enjoy today were won through solidarity, collective action, and the belief that every worker deserves dignity, respect, and a seat at the table.
