Our Story
Bluegrass Wildlife, Inc. is a small organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured native Kentucky wildlife. Bluegrass Wildlife, Inc. is a small organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured native Kentucky wildlife. Committed to conservation, wildlife welfare, and education through community outreach.
Bluegrass Wildlife, Inc.'s President, Elizabeth Doyle, has been a wildlife rehabilitator for 4 years and founded the organization in 2018 when she saw that there was a need in Franklin County, Kentucky for hands-on wildlife rehabilitation. Ms. Doyle specializes in rehabilitating eastern cottontails, Virginia opossums, and reptiles.
Bluegrass Wildlife, Inc. provides free services to the community, by taking in injured and orphaned wildlife. This service is funded by supply drives and private donations from community members.
We are currently piloting a new program called "Wild Talks" where we meet with groups of elementary school children to discuss topics related to the importance of wildlife, what to do if you encounter wild animals, and how to make wildlife friendly habitats in your yard. Currently, we do not charge a fee, we simply allow the hosting school or organization to make a donation for the service.
