🌧 Word of the Week: 霧雨 (kirisame) - drizzle; light/misty rain

霧雨 (kirisame) describes rain so fine and light it's almost indistinguishable from mist. 🌫 During 梅雨 (tsuyu), Japan's rainy season in June-July, kirisame is a common sight, especially in mountainous or coastal areas where mist and rain naturally blend.

Japanese is known for its rich vocabulary around nature and weather. Kirisame is a perfect example of language being shaped by landscape. ☁️

📖 Breaking down the kanji:
• 霧 (kiri) = mist, fog
• 雨 (same) = rain
→ Literally: "mist-rain"

🌸 Word of the Week: 紫陽花 (あじさい, ajisai), hydrangea

☔ During 梅雨 (tsuyu), or the rainy season, clusters of ajisai bloom in purples, blues, and pinks along temple paths, roadsides, and garden walls. They thrive in the June rain, turning what could feel gloomy into something beautiful. 💜💙
