Kentucky Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force Dedicated to improving the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health for all Kentuckians.

The Kentucky Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force intends to be the collaborative driving force behind the reduction of mortality and morbidity of cardiovascular disease in Kentucky. The Task Force will accomplish its purpose by increasing public awareness of heart disease and stroke and related issues in the community, identifying and eliminating disparities that affect the health outco

mes of Kentuckians, providing education about cardiovascular disease and its management, serving as a link between the community and heart disease and stroke care and supportive resources, utilizing cardiovascular data to prioritize coalitions goals and activities, building coalition and increasing diversity of its members and being a catalyst for enhancing activities of other organizations promoting health and wellbeing of all Kentuckian’s with cardiovascular disease. Examples of some activities which may be engaged in by the Task Force include: conduct ongoing statewide cardiovascular awareness campaign to increase public awareness of heart disease and stroke as costly and serious but controllable diseases; distributing the national guidelines to health professionals across the state; conducting education programs for health professionals, such as physicians, nurses and others; educating local, state and national leaders regarding cardiovascular needs in Kentucky and advocating for activities which will ensure access to education, supplies and research; participating in cardiovascular advocacy activities, including community coalitions, American Heart Association, American Stroke Association professional organizations and other Kentucky advocacy projects; and conducting ongoing cultural competency enhancement activities for Task Force members and citizens of the Commonwealth.
