Kentucky Population Health Leadership Institute Improving public health practice by providing access to education and training for the current and future public health workforce.

The Kentucky Population Health Leadership Institute provides training for leaders involved the provision of Population Health. The purpose of our work is to strengthen skills and improve public health practice. The Essential Public Health Services and core public health competencies serve as a development and training framework for our activities.

I am honored to author the introduction to this new field guide for practitioners. Those of you who know me, know I live to equip leaders to be the best version of themselves so they may serve their communities, family, tribe, country, and world. Focusing on equity-focused systems change with lasting impact is very important. My experience as the Director of the Kentucky Population Health Leadership Institute, Kentucky and Appalachia Regional Training Center, The National Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute, Buckeye Bluegrass Regional Leadership Academy as well as serving as faculty for the National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health, CDC, and numerous regional leadership programs provided the reflection on the role of leadership development in leading and protecting the health of all within our communities.
