KYA probably looked a little different 80 years ago, but the heart of the experience remains the same.

For 80 years, Kentucky students have gathered to debate ideas, challenge themselves, make friends, listen to different perspectives, and discover what it means to be an engaged citizen.

Back to school means new classes, new teachers, new friends, and new opportunities to find your voice.

For 80 years, the Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA) has given Kentucky students a place to practice leadership, speak up about what matters, listen to different perspectives, and discover the power of civic engagement.

This school year, we’re celebrating 80 years of helping young people become engaged citizens and leaders.

Help us blow out 80 candles and help make sure the next generation of Kentucky students has the opportunity to experience KYA. Because civic engagement and experiential learning opportunities should be part of every student’s education.

PACK THE LEGACY, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The KY YMCA Youth Association is preparing for an exciting new chapter. As our staff has become increasingly embedded in communities and works largely remotely, our organizational needs have changed. We're downsizing our Frankfort office and moving to a smaller, more efficient workspace to strengthen our financial future and continue investing in Kentucky's young people.

Now we need your help to make the transition happen!

We'll be sorting, packing, organizing, and moving supplies. This is a true volunteer workday AND a celebration! Whether you can give a few hours or the whole day, we need you.

The Student Y Leadership Council gives teens the chance to help create programming and events, bring their ideas to life, connect with other teen leaders, and make a real impact on the Student Y program across Kentucky.

A new school year means new opportunities to lead.

For Kentucky students, KYA and KUNA are more than conferences, they are opportunities to develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork, civic engagement, and the ability to lead alongside students from across the Commonwealth.

Supporting Officer positions give students the chance to take that experience even further through roles in Supreme Court, Executive Cabinet, Media Corps, and other special programs.

As students settle into a new school year, encourage them to look beyond the classroom for opportunities that will challenge them, inspire them, and help prepare them to become the leaders Kentucky needs.

WE’RE HIRING! Part-Time Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

Are you creative, social-media savvy, and passionate about helping young people find their voice?

The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association is looking for a Part-Time Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to help tell the story of the incredible work happening across our programs.

This is a creative, hands-on role where you’ll help us:
Create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook & LinkedIn
Design graphics, brochures, merchandise & promotional materials
Manage social media and track engagement
Capture photos, videos and stories at select programs and events
Collaborate with teens to develop merchandise and social media ideas
Help grow awareness of the KY YMCA and the impact we’re making across Kentucky

We’re looking for someone who understands Meta Business Suite, social media trends, graphic design, Canva, and digital storytelling, and who knows how to turn great experiences into content that makes people want to be part of the mission.

This position is primarily remote, with attendance required at select programs and events for content capturing purposes.

If you’re creative, organized, collaborative, and ready to help amplify the voices of Kentucky’s young leaders, we’d love to hear from you!

As our teens head back to school, it's the perfect time for them to start thinking about how they will make this year count.

Applications for Supporting Officer positions are officially open! Whether your student is interested in a Supreme Court leadership position, being part of the Executive Cabinet, leading Media Corps, or one of our other special programs, this is their chance to take on a bigger leadership role at KYA and KUNA.
