Start your Enchanted Midway adventure in the courtyard with professional story-teller Debra Kumar who will kick off the festivities with stories and folklore of the fairy kind.

Time: 11 am in the courtyard downtown Midway.

Storyteller, Debra Kumar, grew up in a small railroad town in Grafton, West Virginia.
During her childhood all the children slept in one room together. Debra was the eldest of the children and recounts that “my three brothers would not let me go to sleep unless I told them a story”. As turned out, this early experience would ultimately lead to Debra becoming a professional storyteller.
After becoming a fairy, Debra was given her wings and the name "Pym". She is a twilight fairy, past fairy godmother, and fairy princess of course, and representative of the High Fey Court of Appalachia.
Debra is a board member of the Kentucky Storytelling Association of which she is a past president and current president-elect.

What a rejuvenating and inspiring two days we shared at the Kentucky Storytelling Association's Annual Conference at General Butler State Resort Park, November 7th–8th! Storytellers gathered from across Kentucky and neighboring states to hone their craft, share their voices, and build connections that last long after the final applause.

The energy was palpable across every session!

Participants benefited from a wide range of specialized workshops, where they could hone their craft, fine-tune the business side of storytelling, and practice performing in front of a supportive audience. We incorporated music, movement, call-and-response, and the art of stretching a story to create a unique experience.

We also enjoyed powerful featured storytellers and dynamic open mics to keep the energy and creativity lively.

Attendees left with new techniques, valuable resources from the "Story Store" (books, CDs, and more!), and most importantly, a network of new friends and professional colleagues.

We extend our deepest gratitude to every person who made this weekend special:

To all our Attendees—thank you for traveling near and far, sharing your passion, and embracing the joy of learning.

To our Featured Speakers & Workshop Leaders—your talent and generosity in sharing your expertise are the foundation of this conference.

To all KSA Members (whether you attended or not this year)—your ongoing support is what allows us to keep the Kentucky tradition of storytelling vibrant and strong.

To one of our newest members, Jennifer Breeze, thanks for capturing so many memories for us on camera! 📸

We are already looking forward to next year! Keep telling those great Kentucky stories!

P.S. Do you have pictures or stories from this event? Please share them with your network and remember to tag us so we can see!
