What is the Second Street School PTSA? The Second Street School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is dedicated to providing a voice for every child. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we go beyond fundraising—we create meaningful opportunities for families to actively participate in their children's education and school life. Our efforts include organizing volunteers for events and ac

tivities that enrich students’ experiences, ensuring that every child has a happy and memorable school year. Throughout the year, we host special events like the Fall Festival, Roses for Days Sale, Field Day, and the River Rat Run, bringing our community closer together. The SSS PTSA is also committed to advocacy. Our quarterly meetings provide a safe space for families to ask questions, voice concerns, and engage with the school. We believe in the power of family involvement and work hard to make sure every voice is heard. We value you, your family, and your experiences, and we’re here to support you every step of the way!

My background includes being a foster/adoptive parent for Franklin County. During that time, I served as a mentor to new foster parents, which included providing one-on-one support, organizing trainings, and participating in fundraising events. I also served as President of the University of Kentucky Delta Zeta House Corporation for over a decade, in addition to working for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. I enjoy organizing projects and finding ways to bring people together for a common goal. As a family, we have had such positive experiences with Frankfort Independent Schools and want to further support this wonderful community in any way that I can.

☀️🕶️ Our Future’s So Bright, We’ve Gotta Wear Shades! 🕶️☀️

We hope everyone who attended the SSS Awards & Promotion Ceremonies enjoyed this year’s decorations and theme! We thought the music 🎵🎵 and sunglasses 🕶️ would make a fun memory for everyone as we celebrated the end of another successful school year.

It was our pleasure to help create a fun and festive atmosphere while honoring our amazing students and all of their accomplishments. Seeing their smiles, excitement, and pride made all the planning worthwhile!

Congratulations to all of our students on a fantastic year. We can’t wait to see the bright futures ahead of each and every one of you!

🎉🔐 Volunteers Needed for Our Literacy Escape Room! 📚✨

Calling all puzzle lovers, book enthusiasts, and fun-makers! We’re looking for volunteers to help bring our Literacy Escape Room to life!

Volunteers will assist students as they work through clues, challenges, and completing the game by offering encouragement, clue guidance, and reading support for our younger grade levels. Don’t worry — you’ll receive an answer key, plus our Team Lead and teachers will also be there to support you every step of the way!
