All are being requested to attend the court hearing in (UPDATE! this hearing IS at 500 State Ave, Kansas City not at the Jackson County Courthouse) on June 18th regarding the safety of our rural areas when industrial wind and solar developments are targeted there. (The federal judge is NOT coming to Holton) This lawsuit is stating federal laws are not being followed as per impact studies before projects are approved for tax credits. The Irish Wind project developer NextEra did internal studies with no public sharing to ensure the health and welfare of rural people and wildlife. They are not required to follow state or federal guidance. Here are examples related to Irish Creek Wind. The area south of Frankfort was documented prairie chicken habitat by the Kansas Audubon Society, a protected species which was ignored with turbine placement . Marshall County is one of the 13 core tall grass flint hills counties which wind developments were to stay out of which again was ignored. No water impact studies were performed. These are why this lawsuit matters. See more detail below. Attend if you can as it will physically show how important this is in Kansas.
