It is with a heavy heart that we must share some difficult news with you today. After much consideration and deliberation, the board of directors of The Sunshine Center has made the difficult decision to cease operations, effective June 30th.
This decision was not made lightly. Over the years, The Sunshine Center has strived to make a meaningful impact in serving the community, and we are immensely proud of the accomplishments and milestones we have achieved together. However, despite our best efforts, recent challenges, including a lack of funding, have made it increasingly difficult for us to continue our work in a sustainable manner.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has supported us along this journey. Whether you donated your time, resources, or expertise, your contributions have made a lasting difference in the lives of countless individuals and families in our community. Your unwavering commitment and generosity have been the driving force behind our mission, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.
Regarding our supervised visitations, Greenhouse 17 will conduct visitations in Lexington, Danville or Georgetown. The Butterfly House is a supervised visitation location in Shelby County and The Wanda Joyce Foundation is also handling visitations for anyone who qualifies for their program at Thornhill in Frankfort. If you prefer to find a supervised visitation provider on your own, please feel free to do so and to let us know who to transfer your files too.
The Salvation Army Frankfort Ky. will be taking over the Infant Pantry for the community.
As we navigate this transition, we are committed to fulfilling our remaining obligations and ensuring a smooth wind-down process. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for a wonderful 42 years.
