Good day, friends!
This post is shared from the Haus of Greta page. Haus of Greta is a philanthropic shop, located above Kernel Benny's Popcorn (my shop- Barb Robertson). We sell merchandise related to the band, Greta Van Fleet and give back with a portion of the proceeds. We also plan a Parking Lot Party in July of each year and raise funds and awareness for this "Living Community" we are working tirelessly to create.
We are making great progress and keeping momentum this year!

IC3 has been blessed with the opportunity to be the donor recipients from this year's event.

The following post was shared on our Haus of Greta page. The fans are very supportive of this mission. Last year we represented over 30 states and 3 countries that traveled to attend this fundraiser.

We are blessed!

Hello Greta fans! Barb from Kernel Benny's Popcorn Frankenmuth here. Wanting to give you an informative update. Since the last Parking Lot Party of 2025, I have been working with a group of local individuals to continue the journey of bringing the "Living Community" for individuals living with IDD and their families to fruition. Well, it is rolling... it is a marathon - not a race - but we have made definite progress, so in list style fashion, here is where we are.
1. We formed a steering committee that is now transforming into a board.
2. We have secured an attorney to start the formation of our 501(c)(3), that is underway.
3. We have started to define the dynamics of the community and how we plan to fund and sustain the community.
4. We are meeting bi-weekly with the architects to create a rendering of the community.
5. We hired a strategic planner to help us gather necessary data to create our donor prospectus.
6. We have spoken with legislators to ensure they understand our mission and vision and get support.
7. We are now gathering letters of support and scheduling more presentations for both support and funding.
8. We have a town hall scheduled to answer questions and learn more from the community.
9. We have created a website, email, and page.
10. We are planning fundraising for the first phase of construction.

This has taken all of my focus and energy along with the daily operations of maintaining my two businesses, Kernel Benny's and House of Cigar.
In the days to come, leading up to the Parking Lot Party, you will have the opportunity to learn more regarding our journey and efforts.
For those of you wondering about the Wellspring connection - they are doing fine! They are focusing on programs and caring for those who are in need of more direct care in their care centers.
We are blessed to be chosen as the recipient of the Parking Lot Party charitable donation this year. We will be using those donated funds towards the infrastructure of Phase 1 and the incurred costs of organizing all of the above.
"It takes a village to build a village.... and you are all a part of it" for this we are thankful.

Had the opportunity to share the story of Kernel Benny's at the Lions Club meeting, it was a really nice evening. At the end of the message i had the chance to share about IC3 and our recent mission.
We are thankful for opportunities like this and hope all of you are too.

Here is your first big "SHARE" Please help spread the word.

This will be the town hall style meeting where we get to hear your voices.
Think about the questions: (These were asked in the Community Conversations meetings prior to this)
1. If something happened to me/us - What does my person NEED right now?
2. If my person were to live in a community designed for them, what would they benefit from most and what would bring them joy? What would be something they would not enjoy?
3. What would it take for my loved one to live in a community like this.
4. What resources are available for my loved to participate?

These questions are just food for thought.... we know you have questions (so do we), and we would love to hear them in a positive tone.
Together .... we will shape this community.

Welcome, friends! It's great to see all the new interest in our page! Thank you, Jake Rummel for sharing that beautifully captured moment with you and your son. Your post created a lot of awareness and that is what Facebook can be great at... BUT only if we:
๐Ÿ‘‰ "LIKE"
๐Ÿ‘‰"FOLLOW" -that's how you receive informative posts rather than catch it randomly.
๐Ÿ‘‰ "INVITE" it will help build the group and help others who may not know we exist.

Thank you to those that braved the weather or rearranged current plans to attend the last in the series of "Community Conversations - Phase One!"
Because of you, we have collected enough data to complete the first part of our prospectus!
Based on the feedback from those that had to cancel, we plan to invite the professionals back again at a later date.
The information they had to share last evening has already changed lives and for that we are thankful.
Big thanks to the Disability Network of Mid-Michigan, Stewart Rehab Services, Saginaw County Community Mental Health, Omni Tech International, and the personal shares that made the evening productive and informational.
Stay tuned!

Good day friends! REMINDER!!

Lot's of information to share with you all at the next "Community Conversations" meeting, scheduled Wednesday, January 14th, starting at 6 pm. in the Brahms Room at the Bavarian Inn Lodge. Please see attached flyer for details.

It's crucial that we have your input and feedback as we move forward.

Please know, we are aware that you all have "unique shares" and would like time to voice them and inquire. The meeting on the 14th is to shore up the data needed for our prospectus going forward.

There will be professionals there to explain some of the process more in detail and help you better prepare for your person to live in a community like this - what would it look like??

Your support and attendance are very important to further this mission. WE look forward to the journey with you and hope to see as many of you as possible on Wednesday evening.

Thank you!

Please mark your calendars and spread the word!
Our second Community Conversations meeting is only one short week away.
This second meeting will be a brief update on the happenings since our first meeting in November, followed by presentations regarding what it looks like should you want to prepare your journey towards an eventual "place" for your special person.

This meeting will also conclude the "focused" content needed to complete our much needed prospectus defining the need for a community like this, under the direction of OmniTech International.

Following this meeting, future dates will be given for a more "town hall" or open forum style meeting followed by Q&A. We know you have many, many thoughts and questions and your input is crucial as we move forward.

Your presence, support, and continued participation on Wednesday, January 14th is necessary and appreciated.

Please share this post, if you would and make sure all of your friends and family that care for a loved one with IDD receive this information.

Information regarding the Jan 14th meeting is further defined in the attached flyer.
