While viewing a Mardi Gras parade in the Garden District, New Orleans, the idea for the Knights of Bavaria came to several Frankenmuth locals. After several years of traveling to Mardi Gras, riding the opening parade, and witnessing the camaraderie among the krewes, the founding members of the Knights of Bavaria knew they wanted to bring a touch of this spirit north to Little Bavaria. e to the unique atmosphere and community activism Frankenmuth was the perfect location for their own “Bavarian krewe.” In this capacity, the Knights of Bavaria strive to promote brotherhood through community outreach, social events, and local scholarship in the Frankenmuth community.
