Saving Tails Animal Rescue & Outreach (STAR) is a non profit 501c3 comprised solely of volunteers dedicated to homeless, neglected, abused and chained animals. Our rescue mission is to heal, fix, microchip and find loving families for homeless animals. Our outreach mission is to educate owners of chained and neglected animals to improve their living conditions by providing supply assistance such as insulated dog houses, straw, quality food and vet care. We get dogs into kennels to free them from chains and we work to spay and neuter all the animals to break the cycle and where improvements cannot be made, we work towards a surrender to find a new home for that animal. We are working actively to improve local animal welfare laws and ordinances and we believe that burning both ends of the candle is the only way to accomplish our mission successfully. 🐾🖤 GUYS… WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🖤🐾

We started with 21 puppies… and 7 sweet babies are still waiting for someone to choose them. 💔

We are SO incredibly grateful for their amazing foster families, but let's face it… growing up in rescue is no way for a puppy to spend their puppyhood. They are now 12 weeks old and they deserve families of their very own. A couch to snuggle on. Adventures to go on. Someone to love them forever. 🥹❤️

And you know what their biggest hangup seems to be?

They're BLACK. 🖤

Sadly, black dogs are often overlooked in shelters and rescues, and we're seeing that happen firsthand. These babies are AMAZING! They're sweet, playful, cuddly, love everyone they meet, and are friendly with dogs, cats, AND kids!

But, we even have a tan male and a black & white female, too!

They all have SO much love to give… they just need someone to give them a chance.

So we're calling on our village! 📣🐾

🍎 Meet Apple! 🍎

Apple is about 2 years old and recently gave birth to 3 puppies in the mud under a pallet. 💔 Thankfully, she and her babies are now safe with STAR and getting the love and care they deserve. ❤️🐾

Apple is the sweetest, gentlest girl and is always down for a good cuddle. 🥰 She deserves a warm, loving home where she can finally relax and be spoiled!

🐾 Boots says, “Stop stuffing my house and give me some love!” 😂❤️

Boots may not appreciate all the straw we’re putting in his house, but we promise it’s for a good reason! 🐶

The colder weather is coming up fast, and we need to stock up on straw to keep our outdoor dogs warm this winter. Each $4 bale of straw can fill about 2 igloos, helping keep our pups cozy when those Michigan temperatures drop! ❄️

A HUGE thank you to Michigan Mafia for inviting STAR to be part of their tournament this weekend! ❤️🐾

We had so much fun being there with our puppy kissing booth, and they even hosted a home run derby with proceeds benefiting STAR! ⚾️🐶

We are so grateful for the support and for everyone who stopped by, gave some puppy kisses, and helped support the rescue. It truly means so much to us!

Thank you, Michigan Mafia, for helping us make a difference for the animals! ❤️🐾

🐶🖤 OUT OF 21 PUPPIES, WE ONLY HAVE 6 LEFT! 🖤🐶

We had puppies in all different colors — white, tan, blue, and black. Can you guess which ones are still waiting for their forever homes?

THE BLACK ONES! 🖤🥺

We always wonder why the black babies seem to get overlooked. Studies have found that coat color can influence adoption outcomes in some shelter populations, although the effect isn't consistent across every shelter.

These sweet black babies are just as loving, playful, and deserving of a family as any other puppy! ❤️

And we do have one black-and-white baby still looking for a home too! 🖤🤍

🐶🏠 DID YOU KNOW A PALLET CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE FOR OUTDOOR DOGS? 🐾

If a dog lives outside, their dog house should be raised off the ground whenever possible. Placing a pallet underneath helps keep the house off the cold, wet ground and can help prevent moisture from getting inside.

It also helps improve airflow underneath the dog house and gives your pup a little extra protection from the elements. ❄️🌧️

Something as simple as a pallet can make a big difference in keeping an outdoor dog warmer, drier, and more comfortable. ❤️🐾

Let’s make sure every outdoor dog has a dry, insulated shelter, fresh water, food, and a safe place to get out of the elements. 🏠🐶
