🐾 WHY HUND PLATZ?

Earlier this summer, we asked the community a pretty simple question: What should the future of Hund Platz Dog Park look like?

More than 90 people took the time to answer, and one thing came through loud and clear: our community values having a space for dogs and their people, but there is work to be done.

Survey responses pointed especially to the basics that make a park enjoyable and usable, things like infrastructure, maintenance, safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for both dogs and their owners.

That feedback matters.

The Hund Platz project isn’t about making changes just for the sake of making changes. It’s about listening to the people who use the park, working alongside the City of Frankenmuth, and figuring out how we can make this community space better for years to come.

And that’s exactly where Paws for a Cause comes in.

On September 20, we’re kicking off the fundraising side of this project with an afternoon that is meant to be FUN, but also has a bigger purpose behind it. Every donation from Paws for a Cause will go directly toward the Hund Platz project and help us begin turning community feedback into action.

There is still plenty of planning, partnership, and fundraising ahead, but this is where we start.

The community told us what matters. Now we get to work. 🐾

🐾 PAWS FOR A CAUSE IS COMING TO FRANKENMUTH! 🐾

Earlier this summer, the Frankenmuth Jaycees asked the community to help us look toward the future of Hund Platz Dog Park by completing our Community Survey.

More than 90 people responded, sharing what they value about the park, what needs attention, and what improvements they would most like to see. Infrastructure, maintenance, safety, accessibility, and overall usability all emerged as important priorities.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to participate. Your feedback is helping guide conversations between the Frankenmuth Jaycees, the City of Frankenmuth, and the Hund Platz Committee as we determine what comes next.

Now, we are ready to begin the next phase.

For one special afternoon, we are inviting the dogs to take over the Spray Park!

Bring your furry friends out for an afternoon of splashing, playing, treats, and dog friendly fun while helping us officially kick off our fundraising efforts for future improvements to Hund Platz.

🐾 FREE TO ATTEND
🐾 Suggested donation of $5 per dog
🐾 All donations directly benefit the Hund Platz project

We will also have information available about the project, along with some special treats and surprises thanks to local businesses and community partners.

We are still looking for businesses, organizations, and community members interested in helping make the event even better. Donations of dog treats, waste bags, bottled water, snacks, door prizes, gift certificates, dog related items, or other event contributions would all be greatly appreciated.

This event marks an exciting next step for Hund Platz. The community told us what matters. Now we are beginning the work of turning that feedback into action.

The Frankenmuth Jaycees were proud to be a sponsor of today’s Xavier DeGroat Autism Foundation Open and Dinner Program at Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth!

We were so glad to be there to support XDAF and learn more about the incredible work they are doing to educate our communities, increase autism awareness and acceptance, and create a more inclusive Michigan.

It was also pretty cool to hear from an amazing lineup of special guests, including Mark Dantonio, Herman Moore, and Braylon Edwards!

Thank you to the Xavier DeGroat Autism Foundation for including the Frankenmuth Jaycees in such a meaningful event. We’re proud to support organizations doing important work right here in our community and throughout Michigan!

Join us tonight, August 10 at 7:15 PM at Cross Park on the south end of Frankenmuth for a special destination meeting.

🐾 We’re Still Looking for Your Feedback on Hund Platz Dog Park!

Thank you to everyone who has already taken a few minutes to complete our Hund Platz Dog Park Community Survey! We’ve received some great feedback so far, and we’d still love to hear from more of our community.

Over the next few weeks, the Frankenmuth Jaycees and City of Frankenmuth Parks and Recreation will begin discussing the survey feedback and taking a closer look at Hund Platz, including what is working well, where there may be opportunities for improvement, and what our community would like to see from the park in the future.

We’re still very much in the listening and exploring stage. No plans or improvements have been finalized, which makes your feedback especially important as these conversations begin!

Whether you use Hund Platz all the time, occasionally, or haven’t visited yet, we want to hear from you.

Jaycee Monthly Minute, July 2026

Summer is flying by, but the Frankenmuth Jaycees are not slowing down. Here’s a look at what happened at our July General Membership Meeting!

Destination Meeting at the Frankenmuth Fire Department!

This month we had the privilege of meeting at the Frankenmuth Fire Department, where members and guests received a behind-the-scenes tour of the current station and learned more about the department’s operations and plans for a new fire station.

A huge thank you to Fire Chief Phil Kerns, volunteer firefighters Lieutenant Eric MacKinnon and Daren Kaschinske, Frankenmuth Township Supervisor Jeff Frahm, and Mayor Tom Meyer for spending the evening with us, answering our questions, and sharing more about the people, equipment, and planning that keep our community safe.

We are incredibly grateful for their service and for the opportunity to learn more about the department firsthand.

Jaycees Around Town
It was another busy month for our members and events.

Volksläufe continued to make headlines following another successful race.

Andrew Richard was featured by Frankenmuth Parks and Recreation.

Doyle Webb was recognized in the newspaper as Volksläufe Co-Chair.

Skylar Ley’s wrestlers were also featured in the news.

And congratulations to Drew Titsworth on being drafted into Major League Baseball!

Community Impact
The chapter voted to support several outstanding organizations and community events, including:

• St. Michael’s First Annual Golf Outing
• Frankenmuth-Vassar Bowling Hall of Fame
• Frankenmuth Fire Arts Festival
• Frankenmuth Athletic Association Golf Outing

We also approved a $10,000 commitment over five years to support the new Frankenmuth Community Sports Complex. This investment will help support a project that will benefit local families and the greater Frankenmuth community for years to come.

Event Updates
The Cass River Swim and Paddle was another great community event, with approximately 20 to 25 kayakers participating.

We also wrapped up another successful Volksläufe. A huge thank you to the committee, volunteers, sponsors, runners, and community partners who made the event possible.

Looking ahead, Jeremy Mossner was elected as the next Winterläufe Chair.

Congratulations as well to Doyle Webb, who was elected as the 2027 World Expo of Beer Chair. WEB planning for next year will begin this fall.

Member Updates
We welcomed Courtney Barber as a new member.

Looking Ahead
• World Expo of Beer Wrap-Up Meeting, July 21
• Jaycee Camping, August 14 through 16
