A very happy and productive golden hour in the garden tonight with this crew. We stopped the w**ds in their tracks, ruthlessly thinned the carrots, tied up peas which are about ready to burst, added twine to our bean trellis and so much more. This is what we mean when we say we are building community to fight hunger.

These baby butternuts are all tucked in for their long growing season, the last of our spring plantings! It was a beautiful afternoon for the official garden opening celebration at Water View Terrace Apartments. THANK YOU to Lee and the horticulture team for so generously sharing their garden with us again this year, and for joining in the fight for food security. Grow, babies, grow!

The temperature variability of our spring season has confused some early crops. No chance for a Bok Choy crop this spring, despite a very promising start. The little yellow flowers sure are pretty though. Ah, nature.

It was a blazing hot Sunday, but that didn't stop the young people from Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury River Valley from gently planting our tomato, eggplant, basil, lettuce and pepper seedlings into their long term homes. There is something special about children working together to learn about growing food and fighting hunger as part of their religious exploration curriculum. What a gift it was to have them with in the garden.

Potatoes are planted! What a gift to have the partnership of Water View Terrace Apartments to provide this beautifully prepared garden. This dedicated crew planted 180 row feet of potatoes in no time on a spectacular warm and windy afternoon.
