The Caring Force Speaking out for Massachusetts' human services and the people they serve! It's a win-win for everybody, and it is long overdue.

The Caring Force, the first-ever broad-based grassroots advocacy movement for human services in Massachusetts. We are a community of advocates who care about supporting the social safety net that provides care to one-in-ten Massachusetts residents. We are the direct care staff, clients/consumers, nonprofit leaders, board members and volunteers, and family and friends who care about funding a strong human services system. The primary goal of The Caring Force is to create an environment in Massachusetts that protects our most vulnerable neighbors and creates a stronger economy with the pay, recognition, and respect our workers deserve.

We closed out our rallies for this legislative session on Sept.25, with our first-ever Metro Boston Rally, which we held at WORK Inc. It was also the first time The Caring Force had a lived experience speech presented in Spanish, with live interpretation.

Thank you to everyone who attended, our amazing speakers, our elected officials who attended, including Senator Nick Collins, Reps. Marjorie Decker, Brandy Fluker Oakley State Representative 12th Suffolk District, Christopher Worrell, and Jay Livingstone and City Councilors, Boston City Councilor John FitzGerald and Brian Worrell.

💛 250+ advocates in Caring Force gold filled Westfield State University on Friday, September 18 for the Western MA Rally, our region's third rally during National DSP Week!

Together we called for fair, equal pay for human services workers, fair funding for their programs, and the respect their essential work earns every day.

Our legislative agenda asks lawmakers to:
✅ Fully fund the Chapter 257 Rate Reserve in the FY '28 budget
✅ Close the pay gap between community-based human services workers and state employees in similar roles
✅ Establish a loan repayment program for human services workers
✅ Raise the Chapter 257 Rate Reserve tax and fringe rate by 5.1% to fund retirement benefits

Thank you to emcee Lois Nesci, President of Gandara Center, our speakers Patti Messina, Michael Giraud-Budd, and Damaris Morales, Sen. Comerford, Reps. State Representative Mindy Domb, Pat Duffy for State Rep and Kelly Pease State Representative, and especially The Friendship Band from ServiceNet for closing us out with live music, the Western MA planning committee of providers who made it all happen and all the advocates who showed up!
