🎒 Local 609 was proud to take part in City of Framingham Back to School Backpack Giveaway at Harmony Grove Elementary.

Our members donated and helped distribute backpacks to local children, making sure students could head into the new school year with the supplies they need.

Thank you to Framingham Parks & Recreation, Framingham Police Athletic League, and everyone who helped make this event possible.

Strong unions support the families and communities where we live and work. 💪🎒

Framingham-Newton Building Trades Council President and Local 609 Business Manager Walter Gardner was proud to welcome Governor Maura Healey , Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, and other community and labor leaders for a great evening celebrating the Framingham Project Labor Agreement at the beautiful, state-of-the-art New England Laborers’ Training Academy in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

Thank you to the Local 609 members who came out to make their voices heard and support Project Labor Agreements, which help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget by skilled local workers.

In partnership with + ⚖️, Laborers’ Local 609 extends its sincere appreciation to all members and their families who joined us for our recent Members’ Night Out at Apex Entertainment in Marlboro.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for members to connect outside of work, enjoy time with their families, and strengthen the bonds that make so strong.

We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that bring our members and families together while strengthening the solidarity that defines Laborers’ Local 609.

📢📢Shoutout to Local 609 apprenticeship graduate and Steward Hector Dacres, who was selected by the Framingham-Newton Building Trades Council to speak at the Apprenticeship Booth at ESAC 2026.

🎓Hector’s journey is what union opportunity looks like: from , to Local 609’s apprenticeship program, to journeyman, and now steward on the largest project our Local has ever worked on.

👏👏Hector continues to represent the best of our union through his involvement in labor events, union meetings, and local politics across the Northeast. His journey shows what’s possible when apprenticeship, hard work, and solidarity open the door to a better life for working families.
