Friday afternoon, we started assembling luminaries. Thanks to Bear Creek Auto Sales for letting us assemble, and store them, inside their building. And Thank You to everyone that helped build the luminaries for this year’s Relay.
Saturday afternoon, the trailer of luminaries was taken to Spring Creek Park, where a marble-size light was placed inside each luminary and set along the pathway….as well as the sponsor signs and banners. We had several helpers, of all ages, helping set luminaries along the path. Thank You all!
The luminary path was so beautiful Saturday night….we left everything up through the weekend for people to walk through, read the names, look at the photos and artwork,…..
Monday morning…..it rained. (But these wood blocks are used to rain….and flooding!!! 😁). Once the rain stopped, it was time to take down the path. Thanks to Dave Phillips and Matt Stier for helping me disassemble over 1,300 luminaries. (With two wood blocks in each luminary - we now had about 2,700 wet, wood blocks on the trailer to dry.)
Today, Thanks to help from Rick Kvam, Billy Foster, Matt Stier, and Mark Woodward, we got ALL the blocks packed away into their totes, and ready to be stored back inside the Essig Agency building. Rick Kvam, Harry Boland, Mark Woodward, and Matt Stier, helped me get the totes and signs all stacked in and put away.
Fillmore County Relay for Life travels to different host towns within our county every 2 years. Spring Valley has held the Relay in 2024 and 2025….and it will now move to a different town.
Thank You to everyone that has helped out in some way with this event these past two years.
There are still donations coming in, but our current total raised for this year’s Relay for Life event is $68,830.11.
