Spicy Pro, bailed by the RACE Fund and entrusted to us, is having her maintenance caught up today.

And tru to her name (sort of) she stood like a "pro" for her trim.

Her claim to fame was not her racing career only earning $574 but she did have one of her offspring race in the Kentucky Derby.

Such a sweetheart. Stay tuned for further updates.

We all have been there. You say goodbye to that special horse as they cross that beautiful rainbow bridge.

As a last remembrance you take a braid of their mane and tail to keep you close to them.

There is even a meme showing 2 horses admiring their chopped tails saying that is their badge of love. They were that special.

That is why this is so upsetting. This is Sterling, known as Silver on the kill buyers lot.

While brushing the fairy twist out of his mane, his new mom and I noticed his mane had a chunk missing. It was too far back to be a bridle path.

That's when I checked his tail and sure enough it was missing a large part right at the tip of the tail bone. It was well hidden.

So, whomever sent him to sale obviously knew it was a death sentence and in their sick and twisted mind they took a braid to remember him.

Who does that!

Help us welcome two beautiful souls, let down by humans who found themselves in a kill pen.

Thank you Race Fund and a very generous donor for helping these guys find there way to us.

Welcome Arnie and Macey. We will give you comfort and care and make sure you are never let down again.

Update...

Alexa's earthly journey ended today as she ascended to heaven.

We envision a beautiful white horse kneeling at her bedside to allow her to mount and they flew across that amazing rainbow to the loving arms of her savior.

She is no longer in pain.

Please join us in sending love, light and prayers to her family and her friends.

Fly high Alexa❤️. We thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your story❤️❤️❤️

An amazing thing happened this morning!

A good friend and hospice nurse, Tracey Dobbs-Valdez contacted me.

She told me about one of her patients, Alexa, who was dying of pancreatic cancer. She said that Alexa loved horses with all her heart. One of her last wishes was to see and pet a horse just one more time.

Tracey asked if there was any way we could help with this wish.

Of course we did not hesitate for an instant.

Alexa was able to see, not just any horse, but my best boy Slick.

She was able to pet him and get that horse smell on her hands. All horse girls know that is the best smell ever.

Alexa, even in her very fragile condition thanked us and especially Slick, for coming to her home and making this possible. She said it will make leaving so much easier.

Days like these restore my faith and give me hope. There are good kind people like Tracey in this world who help those in need with such unselfish compassion.

Great farrier day after a couple weeks off plus other random pics of goings on. We said hello to a new baby and goodbye to an old friend, said hello to a couple wild visitors, and just business as usual loving the horses and taking care of them.

So excited about our farrier day today. Hoot was a very good girl and stood perfect for her trim, a big achievement for this mini mule girl. Also, the Royal couple both got their mani-pedi and for the first time since coming to live with us, Knight did not need sedation. So proud of my spazzes.
