On Friday we celebrated Juneteenth—a day that reminds us of the freedom, dignity, and value of every person created in God’s image.
Juneteenth also reminds us of the importance of sharing good news. Though freedom had been declared, many enslaved people in Texas did not hear the news for nearly two years. Freedom was theirs, but they had not yet been told.
As Christians, that reality should deepen our urgency to share the Gospel—the greatest news of all. People cannot respond to the good news of Jesus if they have never heard it.
At Barefoot Republic, we believe diversity is a gift from God and that bringing together young people from different racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds reflects the beauty of His Kingdom. We’re grateful for the friendships formed across differences and the opportunity to continue building a community where every child belongs.
