Today we thank Holy Cross Academy of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Simpsonville for its donation of various food items to the mission house this past Monday. It's donation allowed us to supplement our usual Monday morning food distribution.

We are truly grateful for their compassion and caring for our disadvantaged neighbors. Thank you!!!!

Two months ago, we made a request for donations of men's pants, shorts, and T-shirts for "𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘁". For those of you unfamiliar with SDWAT, it is a local non-profit, run by Redd and Cassandra Martin, that provides a hot dinner every Sunday night for homeless men and women. Check them out on Facebook.

The JMMH is grateful for the opportunity to support SDWAT by distributing clothing along with the hot meal.

Last week, we were very pleasantly surprised to receive three additional bags of men's blue jeans, shorts, and T-shirts donated specifically for SDWAT. Yesterday, we were able to distribute most of them.

The volunteer who received the donation was so surprised and excited at receiving the SDWAT donation that he neglected to record the name of the church donating the clothes.

Our sincere apologies for the oversight. If you are reading this, we wish to thank you again on behalf of the homeless men who are today wearing clean clothing.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀? Today the JMMH is starting a series of weekly posts that will explore the main causes of food insecurity. But first, what 𝗶𝘀 food insecurity?

Food insecurity is not knowing where your next meal will come from, usually for financial reasons.

In this series of posts, we will explore not just the causes, but also food insecurity's impact on society, and on our local community.

Curious about our client numbers for July? Here they are.

Please be aware that the numbers provided are significantly lower than in June. The reason is primarily due to a change in the way we have reported them. June's client numbers are misleading because they included four weeks of many of the same families returning week after week (which they are certainly welcome to do!). In other words, they were counted more than once. That significantly elevated the number for each category of our clients.

Our July numbers give a more accurate accounting of the number of families we saw because it does not account for every time they came in during the month of July. Our June numbers made it appear that we were seeing more individual, unique families then we really did. Whoops!!😲😲😲

Our food distribution numbers do account for return visits, and although estimated, give a better idea of our overall food assistance to our clients.

Sorry for any confusion. We are just trying to be honest and transparent.😊

Many thanks to the 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻 for its generous donation to the JMMH! We appreciate all that you do for the Fountain Inn community. When neighbors help neighbors, our community becomes stronger. Together, we can help make a difference in the lives of our less fortunate neighbors.

Today we wish to thank someone known, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿, and several unknown individuals that donated produce and dry goods to the JMMH. Reverend Riser (retired) shared his extra garden produce with us which we then gave to our clients on Monday morning. Thank you, Reverend Riser!

If you are fortunate enough to have excess garden produce, please consider offering it to the JMMH or to one of the other local food pantries. You may find that doing so gives you a warm feeling in your heart and a smile that will brighten the rest of your day.

The anonymously donated dry goods we received are also very much appreciated. Many thanks to those caring individuals who are doing their part to help us feed our neighbors.
