The next time you're checking out a book at the Kaubisch Memorial Public Library, check out this new sculpture that is here as part of the Midwest Sculpture Initiative exhibit for the next year. "Cosmic Engineer" by Joel Washing of Toledo, Ohio is available for purchase for $4,500.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Geometric shapes and patterns hold endless fascination for me. Linear planes and crisp angles impose order in a world full of chaos. In my hands, steel becomes both a challenge and a collaborator, capable of holding form with quiet strength while reflecting the precision and poetry I aim to bring to the world.

Exhibit funding was provided by a grant from the Greater Toledo Community Foundation and Greater Fostoria Community Foundation along with support from many additional donors and sponsors.

It's a great morning for a walk! As you stroll past the Fostoria Learning Center at 342 Perry Street, you'll notice a new sculpture that is here as part of Fostoria's 9th Year as a host community for the Midwest Sculpture Initiative. We often select sculptures by Todd Kime of Ottawa Hills, Ohio and this one is entitled "Leftovers".

This sculpture trio is available for purchase for $7,000. The Fostoria Area Visitors Bureau will receive a commission for the sale of any piece that is part of this year's temporary exhibit.

Artist Statement:
"FROM ARCHITECTURE TO ART, A PASSION FOR THE CREATIVE PROCESS DRIVES MY WORK. USING A WIDE SPECTRUM OF MATERIALS IN VARIOUS GENRES OF ART, I CREATE ART FOR OTHER'S ENJOYMENT. A SENSE OF WHIMSY IS ALWAYS PREVELENT IN MY WORK.
ART ALLOWS ME TO SHARE MY PASSION."

The exhibit was funded in part through a grant from the Greater Toledo Community Foundation and Greater Fostoria Community Foundation.
