Our Story
VOLUNTEER
Habitat for Humanity is successful because of the many volunteers who give of their time and dedicate themselves to projects. Without our volunteers, we simply would not exist.
Volunteers perform a large number of tasks on building and rehab projects. These include assisting with interior demolition; framing; porch building; installing windows; insulating; tiling; sheet rocking; painting; siding; and landscaping, just to name a few.
Volunteers are also needed to help “behind the scenes”. Helping with office tasks or serving on a committee, is just another way to give back to the community. Other ways to help include volunteer coordination, church and faith relations, fund-raising, partner family support, family selection, site selection and finance.

OWN A HOME
The first priority for Habitat Housing is households with members living in subtandard housing, willingness to partner, and ability to pay.
1. You will be considered for a Habitat home if your present housing is not adequate, and if you are unable to obtain adequate housing through other conventional means. Lack of adequate housing may include problems with the present structure; water, electrical or sewage service systems; heating system, or failure to meet city property maintenance standards. Also taken into consideration are the number, the ages and the gender of children compared to the number of bedrooms in your present home.
2. Your ability to pay for Habitat Housing. The percentage of your monthly income that you currently spend on housing is considered to determine need. You will be required to openly and fully discuss your financial situation with Habitat personnel.
3. Your character must be good as determined by: reputation for honesty through opinions of neighbors, associates, clergy, creditors, utility companies, landlords, etc.
If you would like to learn more about home ownership, call us at 419-435-2884 or complete the Fostoria Habitat Application (located on our website) for Housing and we will contact you.

DONATE
By making a monetary donation to Habitat for Humanity, you are investing in a family’s future!
It is so much more than just a monetary offering to the families affected by the donation. Besides helping them escape unsafe, unhealthy living conditions, your donation also helps these families break the cycle of poverty and help build long-term financial security.
With the Habitat’s affordable, no-profit house payments, money is then available for food, child care, medicine and other necessities. Research has shown that decent housing improves health, increase children’s educational achievement and strengthens community ties.
With your support, Habitat for Humanity continues to change lives across the country and right here in our own community!
All Fostoria Habitat for Humanity donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law and will be acknowledged with a letter you may use for those purposes. Gifts made be made safely online, using our website. Download a Fostoria Habitat Donations form (located on our website) to submit a payment by mail.
