We are so excited for this partnership and to continue serving survivors in our community! 💜
Welcome new member, First Step Domestic Violence Services!
First Step Domestic Violence Services was founded in 1980 and is the sole domestic violence shelter serving Seneca County. The organization was created in response to the urgent need to address abuse faced by women and children in intimate partner relationships. In 1990, First Step became the first community domestic violence shelter constructed from the ground up in Ohio and only the fourth in the nation. With more than 45 years of dedicated service, the organization continues to be a vital resource for individuals and families in need.
Over the years, First Step has expanded its services to include emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, and community education. Today, the organization operates a 24/7 emergency shelter and domestic violence hotline, while extending services beyond Seneca County to Sandusky, Wood, and Wyandot counties. Under the leadership of Executive Director Amy Kinney, the team remains committed to providing trauma-informed care and essential support to those affected by domestic violence.
First Step Domestic Violence Services is dedicated to providing safety, shelter, and services to victims of domestic violence through community resources and collaboration. Their vision is for every victim to receive support and empowerment through education, advocacy, and access to resources.
