On Friday night, the Rotary Club of Foster City held its third Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, chaired by Bob Mike and Ira Fruitman. The big winner was Foster City resident Danny Gan. Coming in second was Bill Oberman of the Rotary Club of Menlo Park and Foster City resident Dana Miller came in third. The event raised a few thousand dollars, which will be used to support the Club’s community service programs.

What a remarkable Rotary meeting! Here's a photo of Jamie Cavagnaro and Mitone Griffith at the Peninsula Star Light meeting, joined by the truly inspiring Sylvia Whitlock, a pioneering leader who has broken down barriers and motivated countless individuals to drive positive change through her outstanding work, including establishing an AIDS clinic in Jamaica, supporting the Piyali girls' school near Calcutta, India, and making impactful contributions to the United Nations as a statistical clerk and school principal. Sylvia's remarkable journey is a testament to the power of individual leadership and a beacon of hope for a brighter future.
