A huge THANK YOU to every team, player, coach, volunteer, sponsor, umpire, and fan who made this tournament such a success! We were treated to an incredible weekend of competitive softball, great sportsmanship, and we’re thankful the rain stayed away!

The Mt. Vernon Optimist Club is seeking volunteers to help run concessions this weekend. This is a great opportunity for students and community members who need to earn service hours while supporting local youth programs.

🎉 🎈 DUGOUT DECORATING WINNERS⚾🥎

The Drama Llamas 8U dominated the competition, garnering nearly 200 reactions during the voting, capturing the People’s Choice Award for softball. On the baseball side, the Rubber Ducks t-ball team emerged victorious. These two teams went home with skating passes to The Pond at Piney Acres and a coupon for a free treat at Ms. M's Shaved Ice and Ice Cream in fortville!

Our runners-up for softball were the Diamond Hunters, and the baseball runners-up were the Texas Rangers. These teams received skating passes to The Pond.

And thanks to that generous donation of skating tickets from our friends at The Pond at Piney Acres, our board was also able to recognize and reward additional teams who didn’t win People’s Choice, but had our favorite dugouts. For softball, the Diamond Hunters took the honors. For baseball, it was the Indianapolis Clowns.

In a tight game in our 10U softball division, the Diamond Queens (left) edged out the Dirt Divas (right), 6-5.

Two players received MVP awards, which are selected by the opposing team’s coach. For the Diamond Queens, Parker Hollo, left front, was the pick. Coach Kevin Mathews is behind her. On the Dirt Divas, Roselyn Wells took the award. She’s on the right with her coach and dad, Adam Wells.

The game ball goes to two players selected by a game’s umpires. Tonight’s 10U championship was officiated by Samantha Bolding and Scott Beverly, back row, who chose the Diamond Queens’ Abbi Leap and the Dirt Divas’ Melanie Steinberg for the honor.

A big win tonight in 8U softball for the Diamond Hunters (pink) as they held back the Dirt Eaters (purple and yellow), 18-4.

Two players received MVP awards, which are selected by the opposing team’s coach. Leah Howell, left, took the award for the Diamond Hunters. Her coach-dad Adam Howell is behind her. For the Dirt Eaters, Lena Driscoll was named MVP. Her coach-dad, Brandon Driscoll, is behind her.

The game ball goes to two players selected by a game’s umpires. Tonight’s 8U championship was officiated by Dale Eiler and Rachel Stillson, back row, who chose the Dirt Eaters’ Rowan Dominguez and the Diamond Hunters’ Lainey McDaniel for the honor.

🏆⚾ BASEBALL ROOKIE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS ⚾ 🏆

Victory tonight for the Indianapolis Clowns (blue and red) in the MVO Rookie baseball division as they overcame a challenge from the Savannah Bananas (blue and yellow), 11-1.

Two players received MVP awards, which are selected by the opposing team’s coach. For the Clowns, Robby Marvin claimed the honor. He’s pictured on the left with his coach and dad, Marcus Marvin. On the Bananas, Carson Sloan was MVP. He’s on the right with his head coach, Sam Linette, behind him, and coach-dad, Mike Sloan, to his right.

The game ball goes to two players selected by a game’s umpire(s). Tonight’s Rookie championship was officiated by Ty Ralstin, who chose the Clowns’ Kale Anthis and the Bananas’ Cole Landers for that honor.

It came down to the wire, but the Trash Pandas pulled off a win against the Rubber Ducks, 10-9!

Rylen Rivers captured both the team MVP, which is awarded by the opposing coach, and the game ball award, which is awarded by an umpire, for the Trash Pandas. He’s pictured here with coach Alex Kartman, umpire Alex Refus, and coach Tom Kovach.
