For more than two decades, Kammy's Kause & Kammy's Ride has brought the Fortville community together through music, motorcycles and a mission to support families affected by 4p-, also known as Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome.
IN the Loop returns to Fortville for a look back at the 22nd Annual Kammy’s Kause, beginning with motorcycles gathering for Kammy’s Ride before Main Street comes alive with vendors, the Kids Zone, local businesses showing their support and live music throughout the community. The celebration featured 33 bands across five stages, bringing music, laughter and connection to the heart of Fortville.
But at the center of Kammy’s Kause are the families. Founder Jared Hiner shares how his daughter Kammy’s diagnosis led his family to the 4p- Support Group and ultimately inspired the first Kammy’s Kause in 2004. What began as a way to thank the organization that gave their family hope has grown into an annual tradition raising money to help other families access support, information and resources.
Families from across the country take the stage to share their stories — from first-time attendees finally meeting another family affected by Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome to longtime members celebrating birthdays, milestones and the community they’ve found along the way. Their stories show why connecting families facing a rare diagnosis can make such a profound difference.
The 4p- Support Group has grown from roughly 150 members when the Hiner family first became involved to around 1,000 members in the United States, while also helping families internationally. Donations have helped families attend conferences and connect with medical and research professionals who understand 4p-.
Through it all, the strength and personality of the 4p- community take center stage. As Jared tells the crowd, these children were once given very little hope — but what those early predictions didn’t account for was just how hard they would fight.
And in 2026, Kammy’s Kause celebrated an extraordinary milestone: $1 million in donations raised to help 4p- families and continue a mission that began more than two decades ago.
