Today, we were truly blessed to have the incredible men and women of High Rock CalFire Crews #3 and #5 helping with our cemetery clean-up project—and they absolutely KILLED IT!
They trimmed, cut, whacked, raked, limbed, sawed, and cleared away years’ worth of overgrown vegetation. They unearthed long-forgotten graves and muscled granite and concrete headstones back into their rightful places. They spent time during their lunch break to meet some of the men from our American Legion Walker Bailey Post 205 and VFW Post 2207. We cannot thank them enough.
We’re reminded once again how amazing our community is. We are deeply grateful for the generous donations of equipment and support from:

• Dominic Hardin of Eel River Transportation and Salvage
A special thank you to Donny Mobley of MCI, not only for providing equipment, but for being on-site and working alongside us.
And of course, a big thank you to the wonderful ladies of our Walker Bailey Unit 205 Auxiliary for keeping the crew fueled with treats.
With Memorial Day approaching, this effort ensures that every veteran at Sunrise Cemetery will be properly recognized and honored.

We mourn the loss of our local veteran hero, Don Harms. Come honor Don on Friday, August 30, at 1:00 PM at the Fortuna Veterans Memorial Hall.
Don was a highly decorated Army Ranger D-Day survivor from World War II. To Don - we were honored to have celebrated your 105th birthday with you. We salute you and your presence will be missed.
