While Flag Day is officially celebrated on Sunday, June 14th, we invite you to join us Saturday, June 13th at 10:00 AM for a special Flag Retirement Ceremony hosted by the VFW Post 2207.
This meaningful tradition provides a dignified and respectful retirement for American flags that have become worn or unserviceable, honoring the symbol that represents our nation's history, freedom, and those who have served to protect it.

"The flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of every soldier who died protecting it." 🇺🇸

June 6, the anniversary of D-Day, is a time to reflect and remember the lives lost and thank those still with us. The Battle of Normandy, known as D-Day, took place over 80 years ago on June 6, 1944, when Allied forces launched a combined naval, air, and land strike against the German forces in World War II. History views it as a turning point of the war. Many lives were lost, but many were saved due to the service and sacrifices of our servicemembers.

Yesterday we were honored to work alongside the VFW Post 2207, Walker Bailey American Legion Post 205 and BSA Troop 47 - Fortuna, CA placing flags and showing respect to the deceased men and women of our Armed Forces. 🇺🇸

Sometimes people forget that Memorial Day is not a time to celebrate, but a time to reflect and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Martin Morris gave a wonderful and meaningful presentation honoring the fallen, reminding all in attendance of the true purpose of Memorial Day and the importance of never forgetting those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🙏

We are proud to help keep their memory and legacy alive.

If you ever have any questions about what we do and how you can get involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of our members or affiliates. We are always happy to share our mission and welcome those who want to help serve our veterans and community.❤️🤍💙

A huge thank you to Justin Zabel of Mercer-Fraser for his generous donation of a brand new extra-large American flag for the Fortuna Veterans Memorial Building 🇺🇸
Just in time for Memorial Day, this beautiful flag now proudly flies above the hall as a tribute to the men and women who served our country. Your support and patriotism are truly appreciated, Justin.
A special thank you as well to our friend Rex Bohn for helping facilitate this generous donation and continued support of our veterans and community.
Thank you both for helping us honor those who served!

The red poppy speaks where words fall short — a silent tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedom by the heroes who served and died for our country in all wars. ❤️‍🩹 The poppy is a reminder that their courage will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

After World War I, the American Legion Family brought National Poppy Day® to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day as National Poppy Day.

The Auxiliary promotes the poppy as a symbol of the sacrifices our military have made, a symbol to open people’s hearts and inspire them to donate to help support the future of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. 🇺🇸

Today, on National Poppy Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living. ❤️

This is why our cemetery cleanup days are so important. These are just a few examples among the hundreds of resting places of our veterans. Without ongoing care and attention, many of these heroes could easily be overlooked and forgotten.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to the High Rock Cal Fire crews for their hard work, dedication, and heavy lifting. Your support helps us honor and preserve the memory of those who served. 🇺🇸
