Thank You to everyone who reached out to our Harris County School Board in support of the Old Mountain Hill Schoolhouse.
As of their meeting this evening, July 20th, the plan is to have their architectural firm come in and do a full assessment of the building.
Once they know what all it will take to bring it back up to code, they will meet with us to figure out a plan moving forward.
They, themselves, took a tour of the Schoolhouse last week and agree that there is no other building like it in Harris County, and are definitely willing to entertain going into an agreement with the Mountain Hill Schoolhouse Foundation to allow us to continue to use the facility, if the work to make it safe, moving forward, is manageable.
They also acknowledged the amount of emails they received in support of the Schoolhouse, so again, thank you all for reaching out! We will update as we know more, but in the meantime, the next Schoolhouse public meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 7th at 7PM. Hope to see you there!

Thank you to all who have reached out about the schoolhouse. If you have not done so already, please take a few moments today to e-mail our HC School Board to let them know just how important this historical building is to our community!
It has been used for so much: NMHE school functions, organizational meetings, art classes, concerts, STEAM integration, plays, community outreach, and so much more!
We have wonderful plans for this schoolhouse, and many who support us.
We can only hope that you all have made your voices heard to those who have the final say, our School Board. Their contacts can be found here: https://www.harris.k12.ga.us/domain/15

Thank you for sharing the posts about the schoolhouse. Please remember to please email your HC school board members to let them you know you care about what happens to this great resource for our community. The will be walking through the building and making decisions in the next couple of weeks. It will take every one to make an impact.
