FORT WRIGHT CIVIC CLUB, INC.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the Fort Wright Civic Club, Inc. will conduct a Special Meeting of its members on March 19, 2024 at 6 PM at the location of the Fort Wright Civic Club at 115 Kennedy Rd., Fort Wright, KY 41011. The purpose of this meeting will be: (1) to accept nominations and hold elections to the board and for the officers, ratify past action of the officers, provide indemnification of officers, (2) to approve a contract and deed to donate the real estate of the Club at 115 Kennedy Road to the City of Fort Wright, and (3) to approve winding up and dissolution of the Fort Wright Civic Club as a corporate entity. This notice is issued by Jessica Nienaber, acting President of the organization.

These actions are necessitated by the Clubs dire financial situation, and the lack of interest and willingness to engage in the management and administration of the organization. The issues and proposed resolutions have been discussed amongst many of the members and acting officers, and there is little disagreement about this path. The City of Fort Wright, as a non-profit civic organization, is the obvious and appropriate recipient of the property to fulfill the stated non-profit and civic purposes of the Fort Wright Civic Club, Inc. when it was formed.

It is not without some sadness that the organization has come to this point, but it seems clear that the enthusiasm for this type of organization has waned in the recent many years to the point where the organization is no longer viable, both in terms of its finances, and in terms of the participation in its management. The City has agreed to take over title to the property and secure and protect it as needed. The future use of the property has not been determined and will be the subject of future Fort Wright City Council meetings after the transaction is completed, so all club members and other residents can have a voice in its future.

If you were a member of the Civic Club at some time, your membership has terminated as no payments have been solicited or collected for several years; so your membership will have to be renewed, at a cost of $10, in order to participate or vote in the meeting. Membership forms are and will be available. If you have questions in advance of the meeting, call Jessica Nienaber at 859-640-0745 or email at [email protected].

TELEPHONE SOLICITATIONS - Please use caution!

Each year we receive a number of telephone calls regarding telephone solicitations from the Fire Department. We want you to know that the Fort Wright Fire/EMS Department does NOT do any telephone solicitations.

The organizations that are calling your house may include the KPFA, (Kentucky Professional Firefighters Association), which is an organization that represents the Firefighter Unions, and/or the KFA (Kentucky Firefighters Association) who represent the interest of various Fire Departments in Kentucky. While both of these organizations are legitimate, the Fort Wright Fire/EMS Department does not benefit directly from your contributions to these organizations.

We hope this helps clarify who is potentially doing the soliciting. As always we advise you to be very cautious when sharing any information with telephone callers. Always verify the information you are receiving in some other format.

If you have any questions or concerns about telephone solicitations please feel free to contact either the Fort Wright Police Department or Fort Wright Fire Department directly at 859.331.1700 or via email to [email protected].
