I wish these days could simply be sweet days instead of bittersweet days but God didn't promise that to us. He promised he would walk with us in all our days, and so it was that God was with us and Talia in spirit as we celebrated Levi's 1st birthday. He was showered with the love of his family and old friends and well as the support of some new friends who have stepped up to be Levi's village, who we can not thank enough for being the kind human beings that you are.

We also want to thank all of you readers and followers for being invested in your various ways in the story of Talia and Levi. Thank you for remembering her, and continuing to speak her name. đź’•

Talia's family gathered for dinner last night, and after we went to visit her at her grave. The grass is growing in nicely and I think it is a peaceful spot to be. We brought her flowers, and I could hear her voice and see her face in my mind as we were standing around her just being a family. Levi got to play with a couple of her flowers, I didn't think she would mind sharing. This mixture of joy and sorrow is such a weird sensation, but I think the joy of remembering her together won out. I wish I could have hugged her on her birthday, but I know without a doubt that she knew in life that she was so, so loved. That is a comfort to me for sure.

This beautiful boy looks so much like his mother. He has her long, long eyelashes, her smile, and her zest for life. I also see her in his deeply contemplative face, and I often wonder what insights he has locked away behind those soulful expressions.

He is a wonder. What a blessing his little self is to all who meet him! Talia would be so enraptured with this little man.

I was talking with Talia's mom this morning about the upcoming motions docket that will be happening on Monday at 9:30 am in the murder case against Elijah Jacobo. I told her when this is all done, we should write a self help book for the 0.006% of Americans that have to navigate these extraordinary circumstances. I don't think it would be a best seller...

But surprisingly, and sadly, there is indeed a list of books about the topic. I think I might pick up a couple and do a review.

Family of Talia lighting candles for her on this Palm Sunday. It feels like we have definitely been walking through the desert with Jesus this Lent, but our hope is in the Lord. We will see her again.
