The badge carries a burden few will ever understand. Today, Texas DPS Trooper Sergio Romero was killed in a vehicle accident in the line of duty. May we never forget his service, courage, and dedication. Please remember his family, friends and law enforcement brothers and sisters.

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, the members of the Fort Worth Police Pipes & Drums stand in our Nation’s Capital to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

As we gather in Washington, D.C., we remember not only the fallen, but also the families, friends, and fellow officers who carry their memory forward each and every day. Their courage, dedication, and selfless commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.

It is a humbling privilege to represent the City of Fort Worth and our department during National Police Week as we join agencies from across the country in remembrance and reflection.

May we always honor the legacy of our fallen heroes by continuing to serve with pride, integrity, and compassion.

Gone, but never forgotten.

As members of the Fort Worth Police Pipes and Drums, we are honored to once again travel to Washington, D.C. for National Police Week — a time dedicated to remembering and honoring the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

National Police Week is more than ceremonies and memorials. It is a time for families, friends, agencies, and communities from across the country to come together in remembrance, support, and unity. Every name etched into the memorial represents a life of service, courage, and sacrifice that will never be forgotten.

For us, playing the pipes and drums during this sacred week is one of the greatest honors we can have. The music carries grief, pride, remembrance, and respect when words often cannot. We proudly stand beside our brothers and sisters in blue and alongside the families who continue to carry the weight of unimaginable loss.

Please keep all attending officers, survivors, and families in your thoughts this week as we remember the fallen and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Last night was an honor beyond words.

The members of the Fort Worth Police Pipes and Drums were humbled to stand and play at the Fort Worth Police and Fire Memorial — a place that represents sacrifice, service, and the enduring bond shared by those who wear the badge and those who answer the call.

As the music carried through the night, we were reminded that this memorial is more than stone and names. It is a promise that the fallen will never be forgotten and that their families, friends, and brothers and sisters in public safety will always have a community standing beside them.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and preserve the memory of Fort Worth’s heroes. We are grateful to have played even a small part in honoring them.

💙 Support the Mission of Cowtown Public Safety Pipes & Drums 💙

The Cowtown Public Safety Pipes & Drums proudly serve our community by honoring our fallen heroes, supporting their families, and standing beside our brothers and sisters in uniform during their most difficult moments.

From Line of Duty Death funerals to veteran services and civic events, this group ensures that no hero is ever forgotten and that every sacrifice is honored with dignity and tradition.

But this mission comes at a cost—uniforms, travel, instruments, and training are often funded out of pocket by the members themselves.

👉 If you feel called to support what they do, please consider making a donation:

Thank you for helping us carry on this tradition of honor, respect, and remembrance. 🇺🇸

We had the honor of standing in tribute at the funeral service for Jefferson County Deputy Constable Heather Avery Stutes in Beaumont today. The service brought together family, friends, fellow officers, and a grateful community to honor a life of service taken far too soon. Deputy Stutes was tragically killed on duty last week, and today’s procession stood as a powerful reminder that her sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It is a privilege to serve in these moments—offering music, tradition, and respect for one of our own. We are forever humbled to stand alongside our brothers and sisters in uniform during times of loss.

Please continue to keep Deputy Stutes’ family, her agency, and the entire Jefferson County community in your thoughts and prayers.
Gone, but never forgotten.
