The University of Florida’s Veterinary Forensic Sciences Laboratory held its annual conference in Orlando, Florida, this past May. The 2026 Animal ForensiCon offered workshops and educational sessions covering a wide range of topics, including criminal investigations, animal law, small animal investigations, equine and livestock investigations, and wildlife crimes.

The Paige Anderson Fund for Education for Animal Welfare (PAF) was created to provide continued and advanced educational opportunities for law enforcement officers (LEOs), animal control officers (ACOs), and animal emergency responders. This year, through the Paige Anderson Fund, we were able to sponsor AIR’s Licensed Veterinary Technologist, Renay Peters, to attend the three-day conference.

🎸Battle of the Bands UPDATE🎸- Great news! The last of our crew made it to their Rescue partners! Little Alec joined Muttley Crue members (Mick Mars and Glen Sobel) on their 1,022 mile road trip to our long time friends at Midwest Animal Rescue & Services in MN! Cindy Crawford of the Bone Jovi Response and her team traveled 797 miles to our new friends at True Companions Animal Shelter & Clinic in CO!

Let's show both organizations some 💕LOVE💕 - follow their work and give to their mission! We could not have positive outcomes without help for the most abused/neglected animals in our cases.

Last weekend, AIR DEFENDERS met some furry felines and learned what they need to live their best little lives! What do they need to stay healthy? What do they need to be happy? What are their favorite things to do? What are their favorite treats? AIR Defenders also had fun creating a service learning project for our local shelter.

AIR Defenders is an educational program designed to teach children compassion and empathy towards animals. It is developed to teach children how to be good ambassadors for animals through responsibility, knowledge and action.

🎸Battle of the Bands UPDATE🎸- When we accept a case, the biggest challenge we face is placement after the custody hold is up. At this point we have bonded with each animal, seen their progress in our care and learned what their individual needs are. Our team is fully invested in their progress and outcome. We have seen what the animals have endured, and yet they are so forgiving of humans. They are survivors!
When reaching out to placement partners for the Bone Jovi and Muttley Crue dogs, we were coming up short with organizations that were able to help us. This is a scary place to be when you have worked so hard to get a group of animals out of harm's way and started on the road to recovery. We realized we needed a hero that had a larger reach than we have, so we reached out to one of our national friends, BISSELL Pet Foundation, for help. Just as we were losing hope, BPF connected us with Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA) who kindly agreed to help 6 of our Muttley Crüe dogs; Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson, Vince Neil, Samantha Maloney, Randy Castillio and Brandi Brandt Sixx!!

Battle of the Bands - Placement Tour - Next up we have Tommy Lee, Samantha Maloney, Vince Neil, Randy Castillo, Pamela Anderson and Brandi Brandt Sixx hitting the road! They will be traveling 625 miles to their final stop in Missouri! Because of your support, we are able to get these rock stars to placement partners that will help them find their forever families!
