Today is North Texas Giving Day

The Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council has been organized to operate exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. It's main focus and purposes are to promote interest and public awareness of tree planting efforts in the Cross Timbers Region. The CTUFC will record, coordinate, support and encourage tree planting efforts. Stimulate and encourage both the private sector and governmental entities to take an active role in tree planting while promoting conservation of current trees and wooded areas.

The CTUFC Area is vast and to better serve our communities we have divided up the area into 4 Regions. Through our Citizen Forester program we have educated, trained and graduated hundreds of volunteers. Each region has a coordinator who is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the municipalities in their region and identifying opportunities for skilled Citizen Foresters to help improve the urban forest of their communities.

📍Kerrville, Texas: This isn’t just a tree — it’s a witness.
Behind me, one of Kerr County’s massive, decades-old cypress trees bears the scars of a 30-foot wall of water that tore through this area during the catastrophic Texas flooding on July 4.

The bark stripped high above my head tells the story better than words ever could — showing just how violently and rapidly this flood came through.

We are live on in Kerrville, covering the aftermath and the resilience of this community in the face of unimaginable loss.
