Beyond the Sermon: “Get to the Temple”

John 2:13–22

Before healing could happen, the temple had to be cleansed. Jesus wasn’t just cleaning a building. He was confronting corruption, entitlement, and hearts that had fallen in love with the temple but forgotten the Builder.

The temple points us back to Jesus. So when we gather, ask yourself: Am I corrupting the temple or contributing to it?

Don’t just come to church, get to Jesus.

God is always speaking, but are we truly listening? His voice won’t always agree with our desires, and His direction may not always make sense but obedience begins when we trust what He said over what we want.

God is always speaking—but are we paying attention?

Following Christ gives us a new set of ears, but hearing His voice requires a response. His voice will often correct our direction, contradict our desires, and challenge what feels like a good idea—because every good idea isn’t a God idea.

We weren’t created to serve ourselves. We can’t claim belief while choosing disobedience.

So when God guides, leads, or corrects us—how is our hearing?
