Data Center Standards: What Fort Worth Should Require

As Fort Worth considers data center development, the focus should be on establishing strong, enforceable standards that protect our community.

KEY STANDARDS TO REQUIRE:

Water Management
- Closed-loop cooling systems that don't drain municipal water
- Regular monitoring and reporting

Electricity & Grid Security
- Dedicated, modern electrical infrastructure
- Grid resilience improvements that benefit all residents

Environmental Protection
- Strict limits on noise, light, and air emissions
- Setback requirements from residential areas

Economic Accountability
- Transparent tax revenue sharing
- Community benefit agreements

MICHAEL CRAIN'S APPROACH
Council Member Crain has been consistent in pushing for comprehensive regulations that address all these areas. Strong regulations are better than temporary moratoriums because they provide lasting protection.

The question isn't whether data centers come to Fort Worth. It's what standards we demand when they do.

EXTREME POSITIONS. EXTREME BEHAVIOR.

Judge Tim O'Hare's record speaks for itself.

He pushed anti-immigrant policies as Farmers Branch mayor. Federal courts struck them down as unconstitutional.

He's called for professors to be fired over their politics. He's tried to censor art exhibits. He's used his power to silence dissent and remove citizens from public meetings.

The Texas Tribune called his positions "far-right." Legal experts have raised free speech concerns about his conduct.

This is not leadership. This is extremism.

Tarrant County deserves better. We deserve a judge who respects our rights, protects our freedoms, and leads with integrity.

Commissioner Alisa Simmons represents a different path. She fights for transparency. She listens to her community. She stands up to extremism.

Vote Simmons for County Judge. Vote for a moderate who will serve all of Tarrant County.

Tarrant GOP Gearing Up: $3.5M Campaign Strategy Unveiled

The Tarrant County Republican Party is making moves! With $3.5 million in donations and a unified campaign strategy, GOP candidates are preparing for what's shaping up to be a competitive election cycle.

Here's what we're seeing: organized fundraising, coordinated messaging, and a focus on getting their candidates in front of voters. This is what a well-oiled political machine looks like, and it shows how seriously they're taking the upcoming races.

Meanwhile, Democrats are organizing too. This is the kind of competition that's good for our democracy. When both sides are energized and engaged, voters get real choices and real conversations about the issues that matter.

Media Literacy & Critical Thinking in Action

This week's events - from the Jimmy Kimmel suspension to ongoing political investigations - provide a perfect case study for why media literacy education is more critical than ever.

Students and citizens need to be able to:
• Identify bias in news sources
• Understand corporate influence on media
• Distinguish between opinion and reporting
• Recognize how political pressure affects information flow

The Kimmel situation shows how quickly information landscapes can change. One day a show is on air, the next it's suspended due to political and corporate pressure.

Local education news worth noting:
• Two Tarrant County schools are fighting for transparency in their legal battle with AG Paxton
• Fort Worth ISD continues addressing special education concerns
• Budget approvals will impact school funding and resources

Our students deserve education that prepares them to navigate complex media environments and think critically about the information they consume.

Higher standards in education mean higher standards in civic engagement.

Coalition for Higher Standards (CHS) is a 501c(4) non-profit organization committed to working with local communities to help address important and pressing issues.

CHS's current mission is to further help protect cyclists/pedestrians by proposing a new bill that would hold careless drivers accountable (with supporting proof or witness) with harsher penalties for purposely or carelessly striking cyclists or pedestrians, injuring and in some cases, killing them.

While HB 62 (No Texting While Driving bill), finally passed in Texas, and the Safe Passing Bill establishes a standard safe passing distance of 3 ft (or 6 ft for Commercial Vehicles) between motorists and VRU's (Vulnerable Road Users) in select Texas cities, there are still staggering numbers of approximately 50 cyclists, 400 pedestrians and 500 motorcyclists being killed every year in Texas.

One of the major hurdles in moving forward will be to raise funds in order to educate, bring awareness to the public, and lobbing for this bill in Austin, Texas.
