MAJOR DRUG BUST FROM A TRAFFIC STOP IN THE SOUTH PATROL DIVISION
One of our own TCLEA members who is a patrol deputy with TCSO seized over a kilogram of drugs from a vehicle search that started as a traffic stop.
On April 14, the deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Alta Mere Drive. The deputy noticed inconsistencies with the driver's statements and actions and called in a K-9 deputy to assist.
The dog performed a free air sniff of the vehicle, and the K-9 indicated a positive alert for the presence of illegal drugs. In a probable cause search of the vehicle, deputies found one kilogram of methamphetamine, 144 grams of ecstasy, and 15 grams of co***ne. Deputies also found $1,651 in cash.
An occupant of the vehicle was arrested and charged with two counts of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams and one count of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance more than 400 grams.
