School is back in session, and AAPL has been extremely busy expanding the land professionโ€™s footprint on three major college campuses โ€• LSU, The University of Mississippi - Ole Miss and University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

This past month, AAPL has connected with hundreds of college students at outreach events as a direct response to current workforce issues the land profession is facing, which can be read about in "The Emerging Energy Crisis" article here โ€• https://bit.ly/4tUYXmD

In early September, volunteers from LAPL - Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen, the Baton Rouge Association of Professional Landmen and Professional Landmen's Association of New Orleans blitzed LSUโ€™s Law School, College of Engineering and Student Union. Last week, Mississippi Association of Professional Landmen members were able to recruit at the Business School Career Fair at Ole Miss. This week, LAPL members and ULLโ€™s Professional Land & Resource Management Program Director Buster LeBlanc met with hundreds of students at ULL's All Majors Career Fair inside the Cajundome.

In addition to our incredible Accredited University Programs like ULL, AAPL is fostering relationships with several other universities that, according to our membership data, already produce a large number of AAPL members/landmen like LSU and Ole Miss. Having presence on key campuses allows AAPL to spread awareness of the land profession, dispel common misconceptions relating to oil and gas production, advocate for the entire energy industry and fill looming workforce gaps with bright young talent.

Major kudos to Mark DeVrient, RPL, immediate past chair of AAPLโ€™s Membership Committee, for spearheading these efforts as well as AAPLโ€™s Membership Committee, new Student Awareness Committee and all aforementioned affiliated local associations for their vital support. And thanks to all three universities for allowing us to share more about the land profession with their students!

AAPLโ€™s Student Awareness Committee just completed its first year as an official committee! The exciting and productive year included heavy presence at several school counselor events, job fairs, career days and other outreach events.

The year was capped by exhibiting at the American School Counselor Associationโ€™s Annual Conference in New Orleans, where thousands of education leaders gathered for professional development and to network with representatives of various industries. Our team of committee volunteers and representatives from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, one of AAPLโ€™s Accredited University Programs, shared all the pros of the land profession with hundreds of educators and administrators from across the U.S.

Exhibiting with fresh, new brochures, signs, swag and presentations at outreach events like these allows AAPL to spread awareness of the land profession, dispel common misconceptions relating to oil and gas production, advocate for the entire energy industry and recruit new students and young professionals to our Accredited University Programs and the profession.

Special thanks to the Student Awareness Committee members for their time, skills and dedication as well as other AAPL members and industry allies who would work a table or present to a classroom when a committee member couldnโ€™t.

Another AAPL Energy Institute, another room fully packed with landmen eager to grow their land skills and form new business connections!

The second annual Eric Hanson Memorial West Texas Energy Institute is in the books and we canโ€™t get over all the fantastic presentations and quality networking that took place last week in Midland!

Landmen from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas and beyond gathered for a day packed with first-rate education covering data centers, Texas & New Mexico regulations, AI, ethics and more. Attendees were able to earn 6 AAPL CEUs as well as CLEs from Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

This exciting event featured several networking breaks/meals and finished with a relaxing reception. Several landmen and AAPL staff stuck around for the National Petroleum Day celebration the following day in downtown Midland.
