Jake Remembered

Started by a group of Jake’s friends in 2007 with a softball tournament to raise money to help with the financial burden that often comes with a cancer diagnosis, continued in 2008 with a 2nd annual softball tournament, grew in 2009 to include a memorial golf tournament/crawfish boil at Meadowbrook Golf Course, and finally, in 2010, became a golf tournament/raffle/dinner at Whitestone Golf Club that continued until 2018, Jake Remembered has succeeded in raising money for Jake’s expenses until his death in Nov. 2008, for cancer research, and to help WHHS graduates with college tuition and expenses. More importantly, Jake has been remembered in so many ways by so many people. After 11 years, the Jake Remembered Board is taking a much needed break from the golf tournament. The future is uncertain. We may return later this year, next year, or not at all. Thank you so much for your past devotion to the Jake Remembered Softball and Golf Tournaments, and know how much we appreciate all the volunteers, participants, spectators, and especially sponsors who made it all possible! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Please join us in praying for the Cartwright family as they mourn the loss of a great man! Hopefully one day we will live in a world where we no longer lose loved ones to this horrible disease.

Family Visitation will be at 10:00AM on Saturday September 15th, at the Aledo High School Auditorium - 1000 Bailey Ranch Road. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM.

I am very sad to share that Aledo ISD has lost a Bearcat family member. Beloved and long-time Aledo Middle School teacher and coach Scott Cartwright passed away Thursday. He fought a courageous battle with cancer and was surrounded by family, friends and fellow coaches.

Coach Cartwright was a 1973 graduate of Aledo High School and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Tarleton State. He started his career in public education in 1996 at Millsap High School. He returned home in 1998 when he was hired as a teacher/coach at Aledo Middle School. Coach Cartwright later served in Crowley ISD and Joshua ISD from 2006-2012 before he returned home again in the fall of 2012 at AMS. He served as Physical Education teacher and AMS athletic coordinator.

Counselors will be available for students and staff dealing with the loss at Aledo Middle School, Daniel Ninth Grade Campus and Aledo High School.

Aledo ISD will share funeral arrangements with staff and the community when they become available.

We send our deepest condolences to the Cartwright family. We are so grateful for Coach Cartwright's dedicated service to the children of our community, and the lasting legacy that he will continue to have through the children, staff, and community members who were lucky enough to learn from and work with him.

Coach Cartwright will be greatly missed and always remembered.

IMPORTANT INFO!! Unfortunately the course double booked us on Saturday and they are moving the Jake Remembered tee time back to 2pm. We apologize for the short notice but there is nothing we can do. We understand if you are not able to make it. If you are NOT able to make it, please let us know so we can plan accordingly. Otherwise we look forward to seeing everyone at 2pm Saturday!

We are just about 3 weeks out from the tournament and we have a few spots left for hole sponsorship! This is a $100 sponsorship that is open to individuals or businesses. It includes your name and/or company logo on a tee box sign at one of the holes. This is a great way to help support Jake Remembered and also a great marketing opportunity!
