September is also World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month! September 21st was Alzheimer’s Awareness day! This month we decided to highlight some of the key facts about Alzheimer’s to educate our peers and raise awareness in our community!

We would like to end the month with a reminder that September is National Childhood Obesity Month! Over 13 million children in the United States are affected by obesity. Childhood obesity can lead to an increased risk of diabetes or stroke. SNPhA aims to educate and prevent obesity via the MyPlate challenge. We are proud to announce the candidacy of Noemie Kanene for SNPhA National Corresponding Secretary! It is truly exciting and an honor to have her represent our chapter, let alone our region at the national level!

Hi, everyone! As of yesterday, COVID-19 vaccine eligibility in Texas has been expanded to everyone age 16 years of age and older. Since large volumes of people are expected to receive this vaccine, we wanted to ensure our SNPhA members knew about this great opportunity to help our Fort Worth community!

Live our values and serve others first by assisting community members with their COVID-19 Vaccine Registrations. Vaccinating our community is of utmost importance, but the registration process can be daunting or inaccessible to some. With your help, community members will take the first step towards protecting themselves and others - vaccine registration.

Since 2018, March 4th has been established as International HPV Awareness Day. Although HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease, we can all help manage HPV related cancers by spreading awareness of HPV and encouraging all eligible individuals to receive the highly effective HPV vaccine.

We had an insulin petition challenge this week. Our goal was to help diabetic patients who use insulin by emailing our senators and representatives and letting them know that we are invested in Congress investigating the price of insulin and working on solutions to make it more affordable to our patients.
