The Fort Worth Tarrant County NAACP is hosting a Fort Worth ISD Board of Managers Listening Session on Tuesday, August 18th at 6 PM. We will conduct a brief Business Meeting and then flow into the Listening Session.

Come prepared to provide input on five guiding questions to gather community input that will directly inform the district's goals and guardrails going forward.

Fort Worth Tarrant County NAACP will host the 49th Annual Dr. George D. Flemmings Memorial Freedom Fund Celebration Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Noon at the City of Hurst Conference Center (1601 Campus Drive, Hurst, TX 76054). This year's theme is - Courage, Conduct and Character: The Keys to Great Success and will feature James E. Clyburn, author of "The First Eight: A Personal History of the Pioneering Black Congressmen Who Shaped a Nation" and the U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina's 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. BOOK SIGNING FOLLOWING THE LUNCHEON.

The Freedom Fund Celebration will feature the organization’s achievements over the past year and how the branch continues to break down social, racial, and economic barriers in the communities we serve. As a non-partisan association, we partner with organizations to provide voter registration and voter education; work with local law enforcement on critical matters affecting our communities; promote education and provide scholarships; advise and make recommendations to groups that represent various sectors of the community including the Arts, Environmental Injustices and Civil Rights. Court in the Community is providing warrant forgiveness on Aug. 8.

This event is for those who have outstanding citations with Fort Worth Municipal Court to resolve their cases without fear of arrest. Court in the Community will assist up to 120 individuals, first come, first served.

This event is only for Fort Worth citations such as any Class C criminal case filed with the court (traffic violations, ordinance violations and penal code violations through the issuance of a citation).

Black Men Unite – is a community-centered gathering for Black Men and boys to build brotherhood, discuss real issues, share knowledge, and create solutions for families and the future a space for Black men in Fort Worth to gather, listen, and be heard. Together, we’ll imagine and create what thriving looks like in our neighborhoods.
