6/19 OPAL’S WALK FOR FREEDOM
Join the “Grandmother of Juneteenth” herself, Dr. Opal Lee, for a historic edition of her annual 2.5-mile walk as the community rallies to celebrate her 100th birthday milestone! The symbolic route honors the time it took for the news of freedom to reach Texas.

A multi-day festival bringing nostalgic joy to the city with themed concert nights featuring legendary 80s and 90s R&B lineups.

6/19 JUNETEENTH GIVEBACK KICKBACK
This massive community gathering features a market of local Black-owned businesses, tequila tastings, yoga, and kids’ activities. Make sure to bring non-perishables as they’re hosting a canned food drive benefiting ! Plus, stay for a late-night kickback featuring 97.9’s DJ Juug Master Jay, an open game room, and incredible cocktails.
