The crew continues to take the utmost care of the ship. In fact, much of their training is focused on making sure the USS Fort Worth is in the best shape possible -- not because the ship needs it but because the crew needs the training to prepare them to lead on other ships. With that in mind, the ship got a new paint job. When we were there in November, the port side had been finished so the ship got turned around and now the work is being done on the starboard side.

CDR Canby continues to support other training as well. Division 496 graduated in November and The USS Fort Worth had 2 graduates in the Top 3% and 1 in the top 6! We really do have an exceptional crew.

🇺🇸 A Weekend with the Crew of the USS Fort Worth

Members of the USS Fort Worth Support Committee traveled to San Diego to spend time with the incredible men and women serving aboard our namesake ship.

From celebrating the Sailors of the Year at a Friday Happy Hour to joining crew members for a hands-on firefighting demo and touring the historic USS Midway, it was a weekend filled with connection, learning, and pride.

We’re so grateful to our sponsors — Former Secretary of the Navy Gordon England, Terri Flow, and Karen & Larry Anfin — for making this trip possible, and to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable experience. We are also thankful for the hospitality of Captain Canby and his wife, Molly!

We want to give huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support and donate candy at our Haunt the Hull Care Package Happy Hour! The crew was so thankful to receive the sweets and was even able to use them for their own Trunk or Treat. They distributed most of it at a Trunk or Treat event for other ships and families in the squadron (but they kept the coffee and root beer candy for themselves!).

At the event, Fort Worth showed up with the most decorated vehicles, the best costumes, handed out the most candy and had the most fun! They played a balloon knockout game, bobbed for apples, and even threw rebar javelins at pumpkins for a little extra competition. 🎯🎃

From the heroes of Combat Systems defending their city, to the Operations Department’s too-scary circus, and the Engineers’ smoky monster, every team went all out with creativity and spirit.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious pulled pork dinner prepared by Molly, with dessert by Zeke, which was the perfect way to end a fantastic night!
