Nearly 6 in 10 of our alumni are serving in influential leadership and decision-making roles.

That's one of the findings from our recent alumni study examining the long-term impact of 4africa's leadership development programs.

The study found that 57% of surveyed alumni hold influential leadership roles, compared with none in the control group. And among our alumni, women were even more likely than men to hold leadership positions and start businesses.

These numbers represent more than career advancement. They point to young African leaders stepping into positions where they can influence organizations, create opportunities, and help shape their communities.

That's the vision behind 4africa: equipping and empowering African leaders to transform their communities and countries.

A few years ago, this was open land surrounded by prayer. Today, it's becoming the Leadership Academy of Uganda. But its not too late to join in on the generational impact that this school will soon create.

Since 2014, our Leadership Academy of South Sudan has equipped 456 graduates—71% now serve in formal leadership roles, and alumni have launched 55+ businesses creating 150+ jobs. Now we're building a second campus near Gulu, Uganda to double our annual student intake from 60 to 120.

We've raised $4M of our $7.2M goal, but we need to raise $3.2M more by December to finish the campus by February 2027.

This isn't about outside solutions. It's about equipping African leaders to address African challenges—with the right tools, training, and opportunity to lead. Every gift, whatever the size, helps move us closer to opening day.

Leadership. Entrepreneurship. Academics. Discipleship.
Our LEAD model isn't a quick fix — it's a proven pathway for raising up leaders who serve with integrity and build sustainable change in their own communities.

This is what generational impact looks like.

In June, we held our second Pitch Competition at LASS, giving students and alumni the opportunity to their pitch businesses that address real challenges in their communities.

After a competitive selection process and a week of mentorship, ten finalists were given the opportunity to present investor-ready ideas, with prize money awarded at the end.

Beyond funding, the competition helped entrepreneurs build confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and connect with mentors who can help grow their businesses.

A scholarship pays for one year. Leadership pays forward for a lifetime.
That's the difference we're chasing at 4africa—not just getting students into a classroom, but equipping them to lead their communities long after graduation.

"Many businesses fail not because they lack potential, but because they lack proper financial guidance." — Theresa Thomas

Theresa came to the Leadership Academy of South Sudan needing a scholarship. She left with something bigger: a vision to become a financial leader who equips entrepreneurs and promotes financial literacy in her community. Her story is a picture of what leadership development looks like beyond the scholarship.

Our new blog dives into what leadership development actually looks like beyond the scholarship check.

We officially have 163 Tijara Lab members! After starting the Tijara Lab last October, our goal for this year was to have 100 members. We have already exceeded that with 163 members! 🎉

The Tijara Lab is 4africa’s entrepreneurship hub. Through this year-round training, mentorship, exposure, and funding pathways, the Tijara Lab supports our alumni entrepreneurs from the idea stage to sustainable, profitable businesses. They gain practical skills in finance, marketing, sales, and digital tools, receive one-on-one mentorship, access pitch events and markets, and connections to seed funding opportunities.

This past quarter, we held a 12-week Innovation Incubator, equipping our alumni entrepreneurs to turn promising ideas into market-ready businesses. Through mentorship, customer research, and hands-on testing, participants refined their business models and developed solutions based on real market needs.

The program culminated in a Demo Day in June, bringing together three teams comprising of fourteen alumni. These included: The Alphas, a business focused on tomato post-harvest loss reduction through solar drying and tomato powder production; AgroRedeem Africa, a market-linkage platform connecting grain sellers to verified buyers with real-time pricing; and Harvest Nutritious Feeds, a customized poultry feed solutions business using locally available raw materials.

On demo day, each team presented their business concepts and investor-ready pitches, preparing them to launch sustainable ventures that create lasting impact in their communities.

What if leadership isn't something you're given, but something you simply decide to do?

That question sat at the center of Yai Atem D'Agoot's story, long before he had an answer to it. When Yai first came to The Leadership Academy of South Sudan (LASS), he thought leadership was reserved for people with titles, influence, or some kind of official authority.

That idea didn't survive his time in LASS's Leadership and Discipleship lessons. There, he learned that leadership isn't about who's in charge, but instead it's about stepping up for the people and problems God puts in front of you.

"LASS taught me that leadership is not something you wait for, it is something you choose."

That idea got put to the test when Yai went home to Twic East during a school break. What he found was a community of young people who felt stuck—no jobs, few opportunities, and not much reason for hope. Yai could have just noticed the problem and moved on. Instead, he pulled together a group of fellow young leaders, started organizing football matches, and built spaces where young people could reconnect, laugh, and start dreaming again.

"I shared one lesson that had stayed with me from LASS, that every meaningful change starts with someone willing to take the first step."

These days, Yai doesn't think about leadership in terms of position or status anymore. He believes every young person already has the seed of change in them and that God puts each of us right where we're needed most.

"Leadership is creating positive change wherever God has placed you, even if your first step seems small."

Africa is rich in promise...But decades of aid have often treated symptoms, not root causes.
That's why 4africa exists: to raise up Christ-centered leaders who transform their communities from the inside out — not from the outside in.

Strong nations aren't built by projects. They're built by healthy leaders. 🌍
