Happy Independence Day, Uganda! 🇺🇬

Today, we celebrate Uganda’s people, resilience, and the promise of its next generation.

On 100 acres near Gulu, in a region once devastated by conflict, 4africa is constructing the Leadership Academy of Uganda—a new hub of learning and possibility.

On track to open in 2027, the Academy will welcome its first class of 60 students; 30 young men and 30 young women. Each will be equipped to lead with Christ at the center, rebuild communities, start businesses, and serve with integrity.

As Uganda marks its independence, we look forward with hope to the leaders who will help shape East Africa’s future.

“If I have been supported to go this far, why can’t I also support others?” — Barcha

After fleeing insecurity in Sudan and arriving in Uganda, Barcha continued her education through 4africa’s scholarship support. In 2025, she graduated from university with a degree in human resource management.

Today, she’s opening doors for others.

Through Seeds of Peace, the initiative she founded, Barcha and her volunteer team help refugee youth navigate scholarship applications, access school materials, and continue their education. In one recent effort, they helped 12 girls register for examinations.

For Ojja, becoming a doctor is about more than a career. It’s about helping heal his country. 🇸🇸
Growing up in South Sudan, Ojja has seen firsthand the challenges his community faces, including limited access to quality healthcare.

Now, as a 4africa alumnus pursuing medicine, he is preparing to be part of the solution.
His dream is to become a doctor and use his education to serve his people, strengthen healthcare in South Sudan, and help build a healthier future for the next generation.

Ojja’s story is a powerful reminder of what can happen when young leaders are equipped to pursue their calling and serve where they are needed most.

🍅 200 kg of tomatoes each month, and plenty of lessons along the way.
At the Leadership Academy of South Sudan (LASS), the greenhouse is giving students hands-on experience in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

Today, the greenhouse is producing an average of 200 kg of tomatoes each month and has generated $605 in income so far.
But the impact goes beyond the numbers. Students are learning firsthand about production, managing costs, understanding markets, and what it takes to build a sustainable enterprise.

It’s another way our students are putting leadership and entrepreneurship into practice, learning skills they can carry into their communities and future ventures.

Entrepreneurship isn't just about the wins. Sometimes the most valuable lessons come from the setbacks along the way.

Tijara Lab alumni recently had the opportunity to hear from Brad Clark, President of Texas-based Power Electric Supply, during a virtual mentorship conversation.

Brad grew up working in his family's electrical distribution business and has spent his career learning what it takes to build and lead businesses that create opportunities for others. During the conversation, he spoke candidly about the risks and setbacks he's faced, family tensions, selling a previous company, and ultimately building the company he leads today.

For our emerging entrepreneurs, it was an opportunity to hear firsthand from an experienced business leader about entrepreneurship, resilience, leadership, and the realities of building something that lasts.

It's the Tijara Lab mission in action: connecting emerging entrepreneurs with experienced voices who can share the lessons they've learned along the way.
