Source for daily update on the COVID Crisis in Nicaragua.

The Departments of Managua and Matagalpa have the most cases per per at this time. It's very bad. Our field technicians, students, and producers are reporting a sharp increase in cases.

In order to do our part to keep Pontis participants as safe as possible, we have put a hold on all in person training at this time.

18 years ago, God used my dear friends Byron Easterling and Roger Leyton of Managua to open the door for Pontis in Nicaragua. I had the privilege of seeing Roger yesterday in Texas. It was a grand reunion and we may yet work together again in Nicaragua.

God is good!

At the invitation of Bill Camenisch of Family Building Family and Grow Nicaragua, Pontis began work on Ometepe in 2014 with 20 pastors who were rice farmers.

Then in 2016 helped birth Cooperativa El Eden from the producers that were part of the Pontis Sustainable Small Farm Program. Today they are still going strong and growing little by little.

This work is transformational. Families are being freed from multigenerational poverty by the application of sound farming practices and biblical life wisdom that recognizes the value of every human being as an image bearer of God and an agent of his Kingdom as a steward of the earth.

Yesterday marked TEN YEARS since I moved to live in Nicaragua and establish the Pontis Sustainable Small Farm Program.

AND GOING STRONG!

Ten years ago, yesterday, I boarded a United flight to move to Nicaragua to establish what became the Pontis Sustainable Small Farm Program. Today we have a solid management team, 8 active agronomists and technicians, and have graduated about 500 students from various modules of the 2 year program. We have built ongoing relationships with several hundred "small holder" producers, and currently have 200 students in 14 communities.

Armando, who can neither read nor write, tells me about his 21 acre farm where he raises plantain and a little grass for his mare.

He says it's my farm too and that I need to visit it the next time we are on the island.

He says the Pontis Sustainable Small Farm Training Program has been a great benefit to him.

If you would like to help Armando and many more like him, please visit the Donate page at www.PontisNircaragua.org
