As the summer temps heat up, now is a good time for a reminder about the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion -- and how to respond. During the day, True Worth Place serves as a cooling station so our neighbors can get out of the heat. Water is available at True Worth Place and at Presidio Courtyard.

This summer, a little awareness goes a long way as we all try to keep our neighbors safe. Looking out for one another really matters.

Did you know that more than half (55%) of adults experiencing homelessness have experienced PTSD at some point in their lives? Or that about one-third of adults experiencing homelessness meet the criteria for PTSD in a given year?

This PTSD Awareness Month, we recognize the connection between trauma and homelessness. Nearly one in five individuals report their PTSD symptoms began or worsened after they became homeless.

Healing begins with safety, stability, and the kind of support Presbyterian Night Shelter and True Worth Place can provide. This PTSD Awareness Month, please remember those whose stories include both hardship and resilience.

A brand new month is around the corner, and with it comes a whole new round of enrichment classes and life skills classes! This month we will hold classes in "Budgeting Basics," "Basic Wound Care," and "Conflict in Shared Spaces." Of special note is a new class, "Building a HOME Mindset," which will meet on Thursdays and Fridays.

For our guests: you can find each day's schedule posted on the big bulletin boards in the main lobby, as well as on smaller signs upstairs. A full schedule of classes for the month is available at the Front Desk -- or, just ask a Journey Home Guide!

At Presbyterian Night Shelter and True Worth Place, we know family stories are rarely simple.

Mother’s Day can be joyful, painful, healing, lonely, beautiful — sometimes all at once.

For many in our community, this day may be spent far from loved ones, navigating hardship, rebuilding relationships, grieving loss, or working toward a more stable future for their children and families.

Today, we celebrate the mothers and caregivers who continue to show strength, love, and resilience even in the most difficult circumstances. And we extend compassion to those carrying grief, hurt, or absence today. We hold space for those for whom today is heavy.

No matter what this day means for you, we wish you kindness and peace.

Happy Mother’s Day.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we are shining a light on the importance of daily support.

At True Worth Place, our enrichment classes aren't just activities -- they are tools to build stability, confidence, and connection.

For many of our guests, these classes provide something essential: a chance to engage, to learn, and to take meaningful steps toward improved mental health.

Because progress often starts with something as simple as showing up.
