This is not a correctable error.
Rule: 2-10

QUESTION:
CORRECTABLE ERRORS
A1 is fouled by B2 and is awarded two free throws. The foul is B2’s fifth foul. The new trail official repots the fifth foul to Team B’s coach . Before a substitute is made, the lead official incorrectly permits A1 to attempt the first free throw. The officials realize the error and huddle to discuss the situation.
Do we
A. Count the free throw as a legal attempt
or
B. Re-administer the 1st free throw after the legal substitution?

When it comes to officiating backcourt, remember that all 3 of the following have to be TRUE!

1. TEAM CONTROL
You must have Team Control ON THE FLOOR

2. LAST TO TOUCH
Team A has to be the last to touch the ball in the front court

3. FIRST TO TOUCH
Team A has to be the first to touch the ball in the back court.

BACKCOURT DISCUSSION
While making a throw-in near the 28' mark in Team A's frontcourt, A1 passes the ball to A2 in the frontcourt near the division line. A2 muffs the ball and the ball bounces directly into the backcourt, where A2 retrieves it.

Is this a backcourt or no?
