Fort Worth lost a trailblazer this weekend. Kay Granger, the city's first female mayor and the first Republican woman elected to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, passed away on August 2 at age 83. She went on to chair the House Appropriations Committee — another first for a woman in that role.

Women Steering Business is grateful for leaders like Kay Granger, whose barrier-breaking career opened doors for the women who came after her, including here in Fort Worth's civic and business community.

Our thoughts are with her family and all who knew her.

Day two of the 98th Annual Texas FFA Conference was packed and we were excited to see a few familiar faces! While here, we got to chat with 17-year-old Peyton DeCordova of the Groesbeck FFA – Women Steering Business had the winning bid in February on her European Cross, providing $58,000 to be used for her future endeavors! 💖🐂

We had a great time today at the 98th Annual Texas FFA State Convention! We are proud to be a sponsor of this important convening, and it was a pleasure meeting so many incredible students! Like the FFA, we believe in investing in future leaders, one steer at a time.

Each year at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Jr. Sale of Champions and Tarrant County Jr Livestock Show And Youth Fair, Women Steering Business funds steer purchases from young women who use the proceeds to pursue and vocational opportunities.

✨ This year, we celebrated a total of $336,817 in total giving. And since its founding in 2013, has invested $2,907,775 between the two sales!

🐂 These stats are impressive, but our impact goes far beyond numbers and we simply could not do this important work without our members. Their dedication to lifting up young women is evident in everything they do to support our mission. Thank you!

It's been a big news week for Dickies Arena! Or should we say, the Soon To Be Renamed Arena? 😲😬Also ICYMI, Billboard Magazine recently ranked Dickies Arena the No. 1 venue in North America and the No. 5 venue worldwide? 😍

One of Fort Worth's biggest venues will soon go by a new name. MORE BELOW ⬇️
