We loved welcoming Camryn, co-owner of Caney Creek & Co., to our season kickoff. Their story brought WSB’s mission to life: the money they earned showing steers and barrows - including through the Fort Worth Stock Show Sale of Champions - helped them start their business with $1,500 each.

We’re proud to support opportunities that can keep opening doors long after a young woman leaves the show ring.

Our hearts are with the families, ranchers, first responders and agricultural communities across Texas facing devastating wildfires. 🔥

Here in North Texas, the has grown rapidly across Palo Pinto County and into southern Jack County, with more than 50,000 acres estimated to have burned as of this morning (8/25). As crews continue working the Ross Fire and other wildfires across our state, we are especially mindful of the agricultural communities in their paths.

For our agricultural neighbors, the impact of wildfire can extend far beyond the immediate threat to homes. Livestock, grazing land, hay, barns, fencing, equipment and generations of hard work can be lost in a matter of hours — with recovery continuing long after the fire is contained.

Women Steering Business is keeping everyone affected by these fires, along with the firefighters, first responders, volunteers and neighbors working tirelessly to protect their communities, close in our thoughts. ❤️

Fort Worth lost a trailblazer this weekend. Kay Granger, the city's first female mayor and the first Republican woman elected to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, passed away on August 2 at age 83. She went on to chair the House Appropriations Committee — another first for a woman in that role.

Women Steering Business is grateful for leaders like Kay Granger, whose barrier-breaking career opened doors for the women who came after her, including here in Fort Worth's civic and business community.

Our thoughts are with her family and all who knew her.
